Last season, WSH considered not extending a new deal due to years of struggles. AVs provided the opportunity to excel. Extremely talented offensively and below average defensively. There are limits and needs the right environment to perform.

He could leave after 2 years and has every right to do so. No guarantee he repeats the AVs vs WSH player, so this is a reasonable deal.

Protecting EJ is a big no no, if he doesn't waive then he needs to be bought out.

Too early with Graves, dude flat out sucked in the playoffs and was carried by Makar all year.

I respect your opinion, but to me it sounds counter productive to go out and fill out the teams forward depth just to expose all the hard work you've done when all you have to do is not protect graves or ask EJ to waive. And if they are looking for another top 4 dman I doubt its longer than a 1 year deal, blocking the graduation of guys like timmins and byram

I don't get why so many posters get all crazy about - straight to UFA !
Sometimes it's ok to just be done & let him walk.
He's not a superstar..
