Fellow HFers.....go ask for that job promotion you aren't qualified for yet. Go ask that cute barista out that only makes sort-of eye contact with you. Tell your professor why you deserve an A on your last paper even tho you thought the Gulf War was ended with a two-putt on the 18th hole.

If Cody Ceci asking for 6m has taught us anything, it's that there is no such thing as too bold of an ask...

Sens offer was more than fair based on Ceci's performance the past few years. I would be amazed if he was awarded more than $3.5 M!

Is it just me or is that an absolutely ludicrous ask from Ceci? The teams offer is exactly in line with what I see him earning. 3.5-4.5mil seems more than fair for him imo or am I way off?

You're not even close to being ludicrous or being way off and he isn't even close to being worth a $6 million payday. 19 points in 82 games and the 3rd worst Corsi rating for defensemen in the league. Wow....

the arbiter makes history and awards Ceci less than the Sens asked! (could that happen?)

I think he'll come in around 4.5-4.75. Kulikov's last contract is probably the best comparison, plus inflation and bigger minutes.

People are going to complain about this but 3.5 is the bare minimum he'll get based on cap inflation. The arbitrator is not going to give him a pay cut.

Why would that be the minimum? He got 2.8 coming off a 10 goal, 26 point season. He has 7 goals the last 2 years combined, and hasn’t managed to hit the 20 point mark. Giving him a 700k raise is pretty generous

I was wondering the same thing

His QO comes in at 3.35, it's literally the base.

if ceci gets a 4.5 mill award I am worried boston will be on the hook to brandon carlo for 4.5 ish. a lot of bruin fans are hoping carlo will get 3ish but I see carlo putting up 20 points and I feel hes better defensively than ceci. I know ceci has a rumor that he has offensive skill but until he puts up points that's rather irrelevant

6 mill ask... crazy city... but maybe hes trying to get himself traded? honestly the way Ottawa is circling the drain id probably try to get traded out of there myself

And OP said 3.5 is the bare minimum he’ll get

The comment which I'm responding to and I assume @Kelly is referring to is Ceci receiving less than the team offer. They offered the least they could. 3.35M is his QO.

All I’m saying is that Tom Wilson has a lot to answer for, if he can get that money then why not Ceci?

Given the fact that the arbitraitors always go down the middle, as a player, why wouldn't you inflate your ask?

Except 3.35 and 3.5 aren’t the same amount

3.35 when the cap is 75 million is equivalent to 3.5 when the cap is 79 million. That's why I said "3.5 is the bare minimum he'll get based on cap inflation."

The arbitrator makes the award based on cap % not objective dollar value.

Honestly, if Ceci got the same amount as Wilson, I think I'd probably take the risk with Tom Wilson. I also like Tom Wilson and don't like Ceci so there's bias.
