It’s an idea the NHL’s general managers will explore in their meetings next week in Boca Raton, Fla., as a way to avoid shootouts. It was something Julien had voiced support for earlier in the day, even before he saw his team experience it. He wasn’t alone.
“I was a little nervous out there, actually,†Brad Marchand said. “There was so much room you almost don’t know what to do with it. It was fun, for sure, and I think maybe we’ll see that next year or whatnot. It was a good experience.
“I’d rather do the three-on-three than have a shootout. I don’t know if it’s in place of that or not, but I think it would allow for more goals and more opportunities.â€
