Pitt goes all in for next three years and brings in Toews and Kane.
Chicago goes all in for a rebuild

Chicago
Guentzel (could be kept or flipped)
Zucker (could be kept or flipped)
McCann (could be kept or flipped)
2022 1rst
2022 2nd
Poulin
Matheson (cap dump)
Cap 19 million + 3 million retained + 22 mil In

Pit
Kane (Retained 1.5mil)
Toews (Retained 1.5mil)
Cap 18 million In

Lafferty - Sid - Kappy
Zar - Malkin- Kane
Erod - Toews - Rust
Scevior - Bleuger - Tanev

Dumo - Letang
Petts - Marino
POJ -Ceci

Jarry
Desmith

Rutherford goes full crazy and says yolo for the next three years. Fills the left side with Cheap/AHL contracts. Capwise it works for this year.

Chicago gets a ton of value and good players who could be moved more easily.

:sarcasm: Who says no?

The blackhawks would be the ones saying no. Easily.

How come?

Jake + Poulin + 1rst for Kane
McCann + Zucker + 2nd for Towes

Seems close to value for both of them with the size of the contracts. It is clear Chicago is going full rebuild.

To start with there is quite literally a 0% chance they deal them in a package. With the current cap environment, there is no trades where 20 million dollars is being shipped 1 way, even with salary going to the other way it’s just not feasible.

Also Jake + Poulin + a 1st isn’t good value for Kane.

But there are a laundry list of reasons this doesn’t happen before we even get into value

Even if you take out the cap dump (Matheson) AND retention I'm not sure I'd do this if I were Chicago. McCann and Zucker especially don't have the value the Pens think they do (a common theme...see Bennett, Sheary, Pouliot, Murray, Maatta, Simon, Wilson trade proposals of the past)

Removing the insanity of this...A for imagination! I understand the boredom no doubt.

But you have just assembled the worst LW lineup of ALL time. I mean just look at it. Straight up hilarious.

I'd prefer to keep our pieces regardless...

Lafferty, ZAR, Rodrigues, Sceviour...I could barely get through typing those names without dying laughing.

Fun and creative idea for sure. I don’t think Kane and Toews (considering their contracts) have any trade value. But your idea has Chicago take back similar cap costs, and get some picks too. I’d sure watch all the Pittsburgh games! Hawks would be picking top five though.

Both teams laugh at this heartedly.....
seriously the pens wouldn’t have the Ice time to make towes worth it at 3c and frankly id rather have jake at his price than an older kane at his... you gut the pens into a team with no assets to add and lopsided talent...

chicago gets a bunch of great complimentary pieces at the expense of their high end talent to what end? Trade for other pieces down the line?

Universal pass on this

You don’t think a 100 point (I’ll just call him that since that’s his average last 2 years) elite winger and a 75 point (average last 2 years) shutdown first line C (each with 3 cups and coming off their best statistical years) have “any value”? None?!

People are out of their mind.
I wish these nonsensical threads would stop if that’s the case.

Each player gets 10.5 on the cap for three more years. And neither guy is young anymore. Yes, they are both still very good players, but we are currently in a flat cap era, so those contracts would be very hard for any team to take on. And then on top of taking those contracts the Hawks would expect young assets in return? I just don’t see that happening. Toews has spoken out about the Hawks current path (rebuild) so maybe we see something happen with him. Then we shall see what value he has.

You asked “how come” and then gave yourself the answer...
