Nah, that penalty blows. Worst call in the game and has been since they instituted what 15 years ago? Give that call to the referee to make a discrepancy call as to whether the guy meant to dump it over the glass or not. Obviously that's a problem with giving that to the ref but this is a bullshit automatic call. Give the ref's discrepancy or remove the rule. It's a garage league penalty.

As soon as you make it discretionary, you're going to have players flinging the puck over the glass to get stoppages in play. And the refs aren't going to royally f*** up making those calls anyway. The automatic penalty serves a legitimate function and improves the game.

NHLTV used to have all pre and postgame shows for all markets as part of their broadcast. ESPN+'s service has almost none. I was told it has to do with the regional sports networks payments (or lack thereof). Whoever needs to foot the bill needs to foot the bill, even if the service cost changes.
