Not yet persuaded that City will win a European final. Inter’s season has been extremely meh and their path easy, but this City team has not felt like a machine the same way that the 2020-21 team that lost to Chelsea did. If I were a betting man, I’d put a couple bucks on Inter’s long odds here and be happy to lose it if City wins (the far more likely option).

City almost definitely win this. But Inter are full of wild cards.

City has lost one game since February. They didn't have everything together at the start of the season but they've turned it on.

I realize I may come off looking stupid if City dominates and gets an easy win... But I genuinely think Inter have a shot, with Brozovic and Lukaku coming back into form.
I'd be much easier if Skriniar didn't mentally peace out in January for his PSG transfer, but it is what it is...

City have definitely hit a kind of effortless-looking dominating form at the right time for this. At the same time, it's theirs to lose and there's certainly a scenario where the pressure gets to them or Pep does something weird. If City just ends up doing what they've been doing, it's not going to be a great watch tbh

Marciniak, the ref that was supposed to work in the final is involved in a scandal in Poland as he's spoken at a conference organised by the far right. Apparently he's not bald, he's a skinhead haha

Turns out that it was all overblown and he will still referee the final.

Just a funny bit of trivia reading up on this matter, I guess the neo-nazi dude whose event Marciniak spoke at released a beer a couple years ago called White IPA Matters, which reminded me of a great beer name released here called Nejsem Rasista Ale, which translates to "I'm not a racist but" with "ale" being the word for but but also ale.

Don’t think “overblown” is the worst I would use for this guy speaking at a conference put in by a Neo-Nazi. But he apologized, and for UEFA that’s enough.
For all I know it was a business conference and had little with politics to do. Poor judgment for sure but without more proof of him being affiliated with neo-nazis I wouldn't call it cancellation-worthy.

City are massive favorites

But you never know with Italian teams and Inzaghi is a Cup specialist (not as good as a league coach)

Hopefully Mahrez will come off the bench and score the winneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer and troll Pep for the next 3 months

I don't think Inter are going to get blown away. I think the most likely outcome is a tight game where City is largely in control but gives up a goal or two (I feel like Dzeko is 100% scoring against Cirty) and Inter never makes it comfortable. I've watched enough City matches since I decided to root for the circus down the road from United out of spite - little did I know how quaint this would soon become - to know that they rarely do things the easy way. Maybe they go out and dismantle Inter like they have done to some really good teams this year, but I doubt it.

First big test will be what Pep rolls out with a starting XI.

Does he go full pep and try some 1-2-3-4 formation with Stones at AM or does he actually just roll out what he had in the FA cup final which was a totally normal and effective formation.

Inter can definitely win and i wouldn’t be shocked if they did, especially if they score first. That said I wouldn’t be against City and while I might regret it some day, I actually would prefer City to win.

Surely Pep doesn't try anything crazy and goes with the set line-up that they've been steamrolling with the past couple months.... ALTHOUGH was reading an article about Inter's set-up with two strikers and a back three may be able to exploit City's weaknesses and there's certainly room for him to overthink and try to react to that.

Since 2013 the CL has only ever been won by teams with a Croatian on them and that would favour Inter.

Personally though I'd rather Pep get his non-Barca CL so we can all stop worrying about it
