The Rangers have been to the playoffs 11 times in the last 13 years. They've been the the conference finals 3 times and the cup finals once in the last 7 years. Are you sure you want to compare resumes?
Brodie is a good player, but he does nothing for the Rangers. He just turned 28 and he has 2 years left on his deal. He won't be useful to us the next 2 years while we are rebuilding and we have no desire to re-sign a 30 year old player to a long term deal. On top of that, we've got a lot of left-handed defensemen in the pipeline. That isn't a position of need right now.
You can spin Bennett however you want, but the fact of the matter is that he has yet to live up to his draft status. He's not a top 6 player, currently. Maybe that will change, but he isn't a player you are selling high on.
Bottom line, this deal is just really bad for the Rangers.
Of the several well rendered posts in this thread, this is the best written, IMO.
The 2 cents I add here:
Everyone and anyone is theoretically available at the right price, but Kreider is the least likely to go and will require the most overpayment.
Also, only pieces I am interested in are RDs Fox and Rasmus Andersson, which given you have Hamilton and Harmonic +, you can swing.
But no, not Kreider, and we should still fetch a 1st this yr for Zuc, from Dallas.
Lias Andersson [70A last yr, ready to roll now]
for
Fox [late 1st, not clear he reports/reports to Cal given RD depth] and Rasmus Andersson [2nd rounder]
Rangers should keep Hayes and Chytil
Fair?
Enuf say yes and that's a new thread.
