For a soft guy, Kulak doesnt do anything well to be a regular on a good club. IMO.
Sure he does. He's a good skater and good in transition (especially compared to other bottom pairing D). He often gets physically overmatched and his defence is pretty average for a bottom pairing guy, but I wouldn't underestimate the value of being able to get the puck out of the defensive zone and through the neutral zone. Kulak is an extremely whelming 6th dman.

For a bad team like Montreal he might, but really if Kulak is on your NHL team even as the 6th guy it isn't a good sign. He just doesn't do anything good enough to really help the team in anyway.
Maybe he'll turn into another steal like Byron was. When used properly he may excel like Byron did.

Can't complain. I'd like us to waive (trade for a cond 7th?) Benn & make Kulak our 7th/6th D-man with Ouellet.

LOL

Keep dreaming.

And Byron wasn’t close to a steal at all but keep telling yourself that if it helps you get through the bottom 5 finishes you guys are set up for the next 10 years.

Very funny...

Where's that wonder boy who was much better than Byron ?

Lazar is his name, isn't it ?

You have a lot of credibility...

You know as annoying as it is to have Leafs fans bragging and overrating their guys at least Matthews and Marner are good.

The fact that Habs fans have to resort to bragging about Byron show how bad things are.

And Lazar is in Calgary.

Who's bragging ?

That's for children.

And didn't Lazar clear waivers, as in no one wanted him ?

Yes much like Byron did as well, and then again when 28 teams passed on him before one team grabbed him because of a DUI or the other time Byron was a FA and the best deal he could get was a 1 year minimum deal.

I’m just posting facts, that’s easy.

It’s the Habs fans trying to spin this into a Byron thread that are trying way too hard.
Way, way too hard.

And writing "Maybe he'll turn into another steal like Byron was." is trying to spin this into a Byron thread ?

Way, way too hard.

Where did Calgary finish last year?
And how many time did they got ahead of MTL in the last 6 seasons?

Yeah that's right, it happen only once and it was last year and it took MTL their worst season in history to achieve that,Congrats!!!!

Sorry to the other Calgary fans, it was not directed toward you.

Fact Byron 20 goals last season.
Now you lay the facts down on how many of your players scored 20 or more goals last season.

Kulak is a steady defencemen given his age and experience. Great skater, solid ability to move the puck out either through a good first pass or skating it out himself, ability to elude forecheckers while carrying the puck, and he won't hurt you on defence. It is surprising how few points he picked up. He does make the occasional mistake, but I would say he is rather reliable defensively over-all. There is room for him to grow I bet, and if the Habs are patient with him, I can see him becoming a decent top 4 defencemen that can actually help you win. Will be shocked if Kulak doesn't prove to be a useful player for you guys short AND long-term.
