$7 mil for only 70 points? This makes Draisaitl’s $8.5 mil look like roadway robbery!
That’s basically how it goes for a forward though. You can check pretty much all contracts and most get paid a million dollars for every 10 points. Not including superstars which get paid more and probably centres.

he wants to win

Yeah but he scored 92 points last year. The year before 66. There's no guarantee 92 is the new norm for him, maybe he goes back down to ~60-70 points, good 2 way C.

That could end up being the difference in career earnings of 30-40M$ long-term depending on how his career pans out. Seems like a lot of money to leave on the table...

the main difference wasnt level of play it was PP opportunity. he played PP2 in 17-18 and PP1 in 18-19

WTF is Treliving doing? How do you justify giving Tkachuk the same term as Point yet more AAV like a day later?

Most importantly to note, the deal keeps the rest of the team intact. No big moves need which essentially keeps the rest of team in place.

Id rather do this then give Tkachuk 11 per year.
It's a fine contract. What's the year 3 salary? Is he handcuffing Calgary with that QO in 4?

Most dont realize that the player is gaining just as much here.... the cap seems fine for 3 years, but if you dont overpay in yr4...he may not be yours in year5.

Jesus Christ **** leaf fans and crusaders against them, idgaf after Nylander or marner or how they are overpaid/not. Ffs
Sorry you're right. You come in here as a leaf fan and all you read about are replies to that stuff.

Honestly Tkachuk is an outstanding player and worth it. This fits him into the teams cap structure and makes the contract a three years from now problem when the landscape could look much different. I dont think this gets done with term without having to shuffle the team around so it makes sense for both sides.

Taxes strike again. How Tkachuk gets more than Point on a same term bridge deal the day after Point set the market is beyond me. Craziness.

The way Tkachuk plays could easily land him on the LTIR. I'm actually surprised he didn't want term.
