Optics. He's the highest paid player in the team and the co-captain.Not sure where he got it from but Pierre McGuire says he thinks Price is 40/60 to play in the play-in series.
Why would he travel to Montreal then?

I think what frustrates a lot of posters & fans is Price is more than capable of playing at a high level, but for some reason he is holding himself back. Whether it is the fear of getting injured again, not having found a balance between hockey and family, lack of preparation, etc, there is something preventing him from finding consistency in his game.
Having a subpar defense doesn't help
6) Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens:
His 348 wins are first in Canadiens history, and he went 27-25-6 to top 20 wins for the 10th time in 13 NHL seasons. Price had a 2.79 GAA, a .909 save percentage and four shutouts to help Montreal advance to the Qualifiers. He played 58 games, tying for the NHL lead with Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets, faced the second-most shots (1,755; Hellebuyck, 1,796), and made the second-most saves (1,595; Hellebuyck, 1,656). Price led goalies in minutes played (3,439:49).
Rupp:"There's people that are going to be arguing he should be higher than this, in the top five. Nonetheless, Carey Price is still one of the great goaltenders of all time, just different opinions of where he is now today."
