For those saying the Leafs should have signed him to a similar contract, I just don't think Gardiner wanted to play in a high profile hockey market anymore. After being under the microscope in Toronto, I bet he's pretty happy to be moving on to a city and team where not many people cares about how he plays. Not every player strives under that type of high pressure environment.

A star is a player who is elite among their trait. None of the players in the argument are. Could care less about team success. It’s a team game. They aren't going to ride that playoff run for personal gain. A 37 point winger and a 3/4 defenceman aren’t stars. Get it over it.
