With Carolina not having a minor league affiliate, this brings up an interesting question. Do they call up Kochetkov and offer Halak to replace if they choose to sign him?
They certainly cannot run with Raanta as a 1A; he can't take that kind of workload for long.
Hopefully Michael Ryder comes out of retirement so we can have some trade proposal fun

He's actually kind of underrated, career .915, 53 shutouts, 5 wins away from 300, and probably one of the last sub 6-foot goalies.

To me it tells me that Andersens injury is serious and they are looking at a long term 3rd stringer, not a back up replacement.

Eh, I always thought of him as 1A guy, which is fine, but it means you need a 1B to play 30 or so games. Also I think Saros is going to keep the <6’ club going for a while.
Not imminently life threatening is such an unusual qualifier to use as reassurance.

Can’t remember what year 2nd it was, but as Ryder and Halak only played 2 seasons together as Habs, 2006-2008, I’m assuming it had to be one of 3… 2007, 2008, or 2009

2009 was traded to Calgary, who later traded it to Colorado, who drafted Stefan Elliot

Amazing news, hope Jaro gets a few games. He’s a solid choice and will surprise a few.
Recalled to Raleigh. But given Raanta's injury history, having a 3rd goalie ready to go while Andersen is out is wise.

I think Kochetkov has a good future, but given he was still waiver exempt this season it made sense to keep him in the AHL as the third option.

I would take him on my oilers in a heartbeat. I think he's in the dostal range of prospects.
