With a few exceptions (e.g., Kuz, Jensen, Vanecek), pretty uninspiring performance by Caps tonight.

I didn't think Vanacek looked great. He wasn't tested very often. I didn't really like either goal. I wouldn't say they were terrible but his positioning was off on the first goal and the 2nd goal he gave up a juicy rebound.
He outplaying Sammy this season though.

Kuznetsov with a rare OT faceoff win, gaining them possession, and Carlson gives it up with a crappy low-percentage stretch pass. Never had the puck the rest of the way.

They didn’t play a horrible game. Greiss played well. But they definitely have to work on their D zone coverage and rotations.

I don’t know what game you were watching but the Caps dominated at even strength and got out scored 3-0. Greiss playing extremely well and Vanecek not being able to make a big save is the reason they lost the game. Expected goals were 2.3-1.3 in favor of the Caps. I don’t think it was their best game but they clearly should have won.
