OK Oates end the charade and practice Kuz up top so when you predictably turn to it out of desperation after yet another listless ES performance from our top line, its not completely unrehearsed. Play him with players that have excelled in proven offensive systems under previous coaches. Maybe they will forget your system and remember what its like to have coordinated attacks moving through center ice.

And what a nerd Oates is, not slipping out Kuz as our 6th skater at the end of the game. The 6 he put out there appeared completely devoid of chemistry, lacked basic offensive plays and were not able to complete any passes, were unable to even throw pucks towards the goal, and could not to even get a player to go to the front of the goal and park there.
And Kuz is the one that needs to learn, or prove himself? Oates seems over his head more than Kuz does.
It's mind boggling.

Closest team is CBus in last wild card spot, 1 point ahead but potentially 5 points up due to two games in hand. All relevant parties except TB and OTT in action tonight.
Not a true must win for the Caps but pretty close. If Jackets, Wings, Rangers and Flyers all win and Caps lose, it's nearly over. Possibly 7 points back with 15 to play means you need to gain a point on the 8th spot every other game. TB collapse might help but this team needs to go on one of those patented end of season runs starting tonight.
Therefore, 4-2 Pens.

I presume there will be an optional practice today, which should spare me seeing Kuz on 4 again / head exploding. Until game time, at least.
Locker was on loco radio today and said that Kuz looked apprehensive and indecisive to him. That is proof positive the system is just too complex. He is ready to snap passes onto blades, lug the puck in, but his linemates don't understand why he is going that.
The only way we win tonight is if we score a PPG and more likely, 2.

A package built around Green for ROR would have to include something like Backstrom.
Maybe we could get someone like Wisniewski or Buff for Green. But I doubt it.
