We can retroactively put Yamamoto on LTIR because he missed over 10 games correct?

What would it matter. We can't retroactively add players to change results in those 10 games and he's back on the roster now and you only get the extra cap space for the time the player is on the LTIR.

It wouldn't matter because the Oilers weren't using all their cap space with Kane out anyways and it doesn't get banked.

All it would have meant is that they could have temporarily added more salary while out, but it would have been pointless because of the contract values available to them wouldn't have surpassed Kane's LTIR relief anyways. In the current circumstances for Edmonton there was not a a single penny available extra to the team by LTIRing him instead of keeping it just IR.

All they could have done differently if LTIRing him was picking up a more costly player, but they would have been hooped the minute he came of the LTIR making them have to find a way to dump the money again.
