Tired of the Holtby disrespect guys. Go back and watch the 2018 SC run -- it was ALL Hotlby.

Yes, he has been shaky this series, but please be a little more respectful with your criticisms. The guy is a Caps legend.

This just isn't true. Holtby had been benched to start the playoffs, then came in for Grubauer and played above average hockey.

He's been pretty bad for 3 years.

Kuznetsov, Ovechkin, and Eller were beasts in 2018.

And Orlov-Niskanen were a legit shutdown pair who, along with a healthy Kempny and Carlson, formed a terrific top four on defense. Orpik-Djoos was an excellent 3rd pair as well.

The won in 18 due to the depth scoring. Which we’ve seen ....umm....zero goals from this playoffs?

Maybe game 1 had someone outside top 6 scoring. I can’t remember who had both goals.

games 2-4 were all by Kuz (2) or Ovy (4).

teams that win series get goals from bottom 6 and D. Do we can’t/don’t, it’s over anyway, no matter what happens tonite.

edit — GM 1 was Oshie w 2G. So we have 3 players ....let that sink in ....THREE that have scored goals in the 4 games.

yeah this is a very disturbing stat right now. The. Look at what NYI has done. Now I understand they don’t have an Ovie so they have to get more balanced scoring, but I think they have 10 goal scorers right now.

Our D was 10-15% better in 2018 and Carlson was not hurt:

"Above average hockey?" Are you kidding me?

He turned the Columbus series around with his play in goal after they were down 0-2. He made 33 saves to get them to 2OT in game 3, including on a breakaway in the 2nd period. He outdueled the Pens in round 2. He completely dominated the Lightning in games 6 and 7 of that series, with the two shutouts to help the Caps reclaim that series. And then obviously "The Save" in the finals, where he was terrific from game 2 onwards.

They don't win that Cup without Holtby.

The ire towards Holtby by some here is well beyond absurd.
