4 keepers: 1C, 1 LW, 1 RW, 1D
I would say that no one chosen in the first four rounds could be a keeper and I agree that the "lottery teams" could go to top draft picks. Also, if you make a keeper a guy from the FA, it will count in the last round.

Sounds decent.
I did not understand the last part though.

Btw...
Do you guys want to do a prospect keeper?
My proposal is that the draft order will be inverse...
So Valkries will pick first...
While I get last pick.
We probably have to decide how many players to draft though.

So complicated.

I like.

I don't get the part about FA and stuff either.

Sounds decent.
I did not understand the last part though.

For example, let's say Vey gets undrafted in our league but tears the league apart with 60 points and you had the good vision to snap him beforehand. You want to make him your keeper, he should go in the last round of the draft.

Ahh...
Interesting.
That could work.

Can lists be changed afterwards under this proposal?
I do hope everyone gets to change the list a certain number of times during the season...
In case of injuries...
Suspensions...
And anything else that causes the player to miss a significant part of the season.

I also think that we can drop kept players...
For injuries and those sorts of things.
However...
The overall keeper spots must remain the same.

I can swallow a 4 keeper, but prospect is too far for me. Just too much of a commitment, I've done it in other leagues, it just doesn't work.

That is fair.
A couple of us talked about it last season...
So I brought it out to discuss.

You guys can decide.

The final date to choose keepers would be, for example, a week before the draft and you can change the keepers until that date. And you can drop your keepers freely.

About the prospect pool, in the first year i would be against it.

I think the deadline for the initial keeper list is just right before the real season starts...
And the last change is just right before the playoff finals.

Not sure what you mean by last round of the draft.

So someone you pick up as FA can't be a keeper?

I have no problem with that.
The list can change throughout the year.
I think we can even drop a kept player...
And he will retain that status...
Until he is undesignated as such.

Last year I had to drop Okposo at the end of the year...
But I really wanted to keep him.

Ok...
Here are the keeper rules:
There are 4 spots...
1 C
1 LW
1 RW
And
1 D.
Those with multiple positions are fine...
As long as they can fill the required quotas.
Players picked in the first 4 rounds cannot be designated as keepers...
And the keeper list must be submitted three days before the start of the season.
Throughout the season...
The list can be changed...
So free agent pick ups can be designated as such.
For next season...
The final list must be submitted a week before the draft.
Teams that missed the playoffs get the top draft spots next season...
In a sort of lottery.

If there is anything to add...
Or needs to be changed...
Please let me know.

I actually do not mind moving back.
It is tough to wait almost 30 picks before the next one.

Prefer to be in the middle myself. 15th is almost as bad as it gets. Two picks and then I have to wait for almost 30 picks......

Not given that Crosby will get the most points this season, but I would still argue there is quite a lot of value in having the first pick compared to second. Difference between 1st and 2nd is much bigger than any other two picks.

Luck and good picks are still much more important than drafting position.

I think it just means that the person has to be drafted no matter what.

Exactly. You can't have more players than the number of rounds in the draft so if you choose a guy from the waiver wire, he needs to be slotted into any round. My suggestion is that to be the last round.

That is interesting...
And it will certainly change the way people draft...
But with a changeable list...
I do not think it matters.

I think I will allow players picked up from free agency to be made into keepers later on.
Sometimes a player emerge mid-season...
And he was never available at the beginning of the season.
