Few half sober thoughts:
- OEL looks completely finished. He lost the ability to pivot and looks lazy out there
- Myers never learned how to make a pass. Only glass and out or ice it
- Podkolzin had possibly the worst game of his career
- Kuzmenko needs to just shoot sometimes. His skill flashes glimpses of Kaprizov sometimes but he can’t finish. I’ll give him until after the new year to adjust
- Petey should be PK1 forever. He understands when to be aggressive and pressure. Elite.
- Sign Burroughs to a cheap 2-3 year contract now
- Brisebois (other than one goal) looks miles better than Juulsen
- Why couldn’t we fight like this earlier? It worked and pushed the team tonight
- Still weird that Joshua refuses to engage or fight
- Hog is frustrating as hell but he’s still good enough to play. Motor is top on the team and creates havoc
- Demko is clearly off
- PP is absolute trash. Fire Jason King into the sun. I clench my butthole any time it goes back to the point with OEL there
The pp did go 2 for 2

Burroughs would likely sign a cheaper 3 year deal because it would be guaranteed money for him.

The actual set up was non existent and goals came off broken plays. I’ll still take 2 for 2 but the structure is trash and if we got set up somehow, I doubt we would’ve scored based on our flow.

Or take another view, the second goal was because of quick passing between players, after a great read by Pettersson, who had moved around and forced the PK out of position. Maybe, you would hope, that Jason King will finally take note of that.

Also, holy crap Pettersson basically won that game with two outstanding plays. That blueline play on the PP followed by the perfect pass to Miller for the Kuzmenko goal and that mid-air redirection from the Schenn shot.

Still laughing at noted idiot Mark Spector saying Pettersson was the problem for the Canucks this year and not our D. What a tool.

Have to think the Canucks start Martin tomorrow. Demko is not looking wholly steady in net, and that was a fight to the finish tonight.

weird ugly win. they were terrible and looked like they were playing the lightning not the kraken. half the team has the yips. just a shadow of the team that started the season.

but they got it done.

So the Nucks are on the same level as Seattle which will be a more successful franchise in the very near future. The Nucks have been such a failure of a franchise since day one they should have left town years ago. Stick a fork in it.

Worst performance of the season but they win. Sports are weird.

First period was a disaster and we could have been down 4-1. Second was ok. 3rd we were hanging on for dear life.

- Kuzmenko-Pettersson-Mikheyev were like 90% of the team’s offence. Nice to see Kuzmenko finally get rewarded with a couple points. Mikheyev starting to show his two-way value.

- Horvat-Miller line stunk. Generated noting and allowed so much neutral zone space in transition.

- OEL looks absolutely cooked. So, so bad tonight. Looked worse than Brisebois and Brisebois was not good. Slow skating, slow reactions. Looked like he was 40 years old. Myers also poor and that pairing was awful.

- Burroughs-Brisebois were tragic in the first but righted the ship a bit in the last two periods. What a whirlwind month for Burroughs - he’s gone from like 8th on the depth chart at the start of camp to now playing Chris Tanev minutes babysitting an AHLer.

- Schenn was probably the only defender who legit played well.

- Demko competed through it but it’s still a struggle.

- +4 on special teams. Some of the weird small sample stuff starting to even out.

Hopefully Miller is ok and that was just a stinger.
I surely hope for it for miller... he''s the best player in the league. What happened there exactly? A puck?

A win is a win, I guess but still a sputtering effort. Step in the right direction and you have to learn to walk before you run and the team managed to fudge their way through this one.

Good

Pettersson - more on the defensive side and the PK more than anything else. Times when he seem to hold onto the puck too long and like just about everyone else got stripped by Kracken at times. Still instrumental to the win.

Medheyev - scored and better in the run of the play. Showed some signs of being able to help the awful PK. But you still need to have him protect and possess the puck more.

Burroughs - again stepped up for team mate and showed well in some crucial situations. Probably should have been out late for OEL. One thing he does well is to play off the puck. Always providing an outlet for his partner and the forwards.

Garland - so much better in this game. Line with him, Miller and Horvat were pretty solid and a lot of that had to do with two way play of Garland. Hopefully they just leave that line alone. Depends a lot on the status of Miller

MIller - much more physical and committed. Hopefully can build off this.

Not good

Demko - has not looked settled all season and didn't in this one as well. All very well to dive around but he is much better when he is holding his position and blocking the bottom of the net. Way too may rebounds pushed to the front of the net rather than corner and some very poor goals allowed. Neither goalie was that good.

OEL - Horvat wins important face off and OEL jus wheels it around to the Kracken point. Not getting to the puck quick enough to make the good play and getting beat wide all game. Thought Myers had to cover up for him all game. OEL is far too casual IMO

Pearson - slug-like. Trade him for whatever you can get. A dinosaur in terms of how the game is now played. Constantly slows attack so he can keep up.

Rathbone - stalls out in his thinking and play way too much. Late in seeing the play or the danger. Must process quicker and get way better pressure on his check. Needs to use quickness to get to the puck faster and get people quickly off the puck and avoid getting caught up in puck battles on his end boards. Also needs to be stronger on his stick and not get stripped as much. Not using well enough the assets he does have.

Podkolzin - getting very little done. Are we heading into a sophomore slump? Confidence seems to be thinning.

Hoglander - way too much stop and start. Hasn't been able to get in sync with any of the centers all season and ends up doing too much individual stuff rather than getting on the end of plays

Others

Kuzmenko -looked less tentative and closer to finishing offensive opportunities. Relying too much on Pettersson to cover up for him defensively however.

Brisebois - again not bad but doubt he can provide anything beyond this. Too bad he isn't physically stronger and better able to win puck battles.

One of the real problems right now is how often the team gives up the puck coming out of their zone. Way too many turnover there. Need to stop overhandling the puck and make the safer exits. Seem to do this as the game went on but overall this has caused the team problems all season and again was prevalent in this game. Getting caught on line changes also remains an issue. Seattle has watched film and got some excellent chances by getting a player going wide after a Canuck line change.

100% way too casual in his own zone. this team has a problem clearing pucks in general.
