He’ll get plenty of opportunities to play in the top six next year. Could see him lining up on a line with Horvat and Hoglander. But even if he settles in on a 3rd line driving possession and - hopefully - offense, that would be terrific.
I would like to see if he can be a good strength and power threat on peteys wing if possible. If he cant Pod Bo Hog is my next hope.

7 goals in 68 games with Ska. Regardless of minutes or where he played in the lineup, that doesn’t scream goal scorer to me. Kinda of sick of wasting top 10 picks on guys that can’t fill the net.

He trended up as the season went on. Not to mention 11 points in 16 playoff games.

Don't give up on him yet.

If Podkolzin and Hoglander end up as top-six wingers, then the 2019 draft is a smashing success, no matter what happens with the rest of the picks. Would love to see them on the same line.....but they just need to find a young, creative center.

Elsewhere in the 2019 draft, Silovs and Focht are already signed; and I feel certain that Aiden McDonough and may Arvid Costmar will eventually be signed as well.

Can't do much better than that in one draft.

Have to wonder about what happened with his club and his playing time etc.
Now left off national team...

They were punishing him for wanting to leave for NHL/trying to twist his arm in to committing to another KHL contract.

For the national team, probably just was not one of the best ~13 forwards attending.

Hell yeah.

Great pick by Benning. So excited to see him in the NHL

Dont think any GM besides Jim took time in the middle of the NHL season to go to Russia to scout Podz. Does this man ever sleep?!

Imagine Brock playing with Beagle all year with no PP time. He probably wouldnt score that much either. Thats the same type of environment Pod was playing thru in the KHL.

Well.... he does lol. Hard working 3rd line winger that puts up 15 goals / 20 assists.

Absolutely hate his voice. Just loud and annoying. Can’t watch that show.

Have to wonder about what happened with his club and his playing time etc.

It's strange how he all of a sudden was SKA's leading goal scorer and point getter in the play-offs, after having a quiet regular season, though he was coming on a bit near the end of the regular season.

Most of his scoring comes 5on5 which is what this team desperately needs. Hoping he can have a similar type of impact that Hoglander had this season. Wouldn't be opposed to trying him as C either

Stoked!!

Also does anyone know how tall/heavy he is? Elite prospects has him listed at 6”4 and 203lbs

For his counting stats this year he had 11 points in 35 games. The vast majority coming in the second half of the season. I think it was like 9 in 17 compared to 2 in 18 the first half. In playoffs though he came alive and went 11 in 16 getting the same reduced ice time he was getting in the regular season.
Good players elevate their game when it matters most

The politicking in Russia over his ice time was frustrating as all get out. He clearly was ready / deserving of more ice time all season long.

Glad he’s coming on over.

Extremely excited to see him in the NHL after following his progress for the past two years. It's hard to compare him to any player because he has so many different elements to his game. Closest comp I can come up with is Landeskog.

Awesome news. I can't wait to see Hoglander and Podkolzin both great puck hounds, digging and winning puck battles in the corners. Eventually if Benning can garner some more key pieces, this team will be a tough team to play against. I love this kids work ethic, he just doesn't give up. Love it.
