tbh was a bit surprised that Avs let him go.

They drafted him 2 years ago and he has developed as you'd hope he would, followed by a good showing at Worlds.

Big, hardworking, speedy, two-way center with limited offense. Could put on some additional weight.

He's still just 22 but right now I see him as a potential rock solid 4C who can turn into a 3C. Reminds me a little of a taller Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.

Elc are pretty standard stuff. Seems odd that a team can’t make it work. Usually with European players it’s the option to return home if they don’t make the big club that can be a deal breaker. For Nils it’s probably best for him to make the jump to NA given the type of role he would be asked fulfill in the bottom 6 in the future.

I think this will really depend on how his camp goes and the influence the other Swedes on the roster have.

Wouldn't be a shock if he doesn't show that well at training camp that the Canucks don't loan him back to his team in the SHL. From a monetary standpoint, that probably would make more sense for this player, since AHL salaries on ELC's are pretty paltry.

I'm fine with the Canucks posturing with this signing by suggesting he'll play in the NHL right away.
It's good to show confidence in your decisions to your players and fans.
Probably going to give him almost all the training camp games and some looks with Pettersson to keep him happy and show him respect.
It also puts pressure on the bottom six and suggests their jobs are not guaranteed (and why should they be? The Canucks didn't make the playoffs).
Players like Dickinson, Highmore, Lammikko, Dowling, Karlsson, Klimovich SHOULD be concerned about competition in camp. He can easily start in the NHL and sit in the press box on and off and play only half of the first 10-15 games before the Canucks make a decision on him. If he truly doesn't want to dip into the AHL (in Abbotsford, not half way across the country) for extra minutes what does that say about the player? They can send him down for a game and bring him back up to the NHL the next day.

"The first thing we liked about Aman is his combination of size and speed. He comes in at 6’2”, 179 pounds and used his larger body well.

Aman impressed us with his board work as he consistently moved the puck up ice. He has a strong push on the boards and can leverage his body to gain better positioning. This will be very good for him in the AHL as there are a ton of four-man board scrums where this skill of his will come in handy."

"Two of the most consistent and impressive parts to his game are his effort level and his ability to fill space in the defensive zone sticks out in his SHL play."

He opted not to sign with colorado. You have to give him a reason to sign here over other clubs. Would t surprise me. Development wise probably best that he play in the A but guys from Europe prefer to play over there vs in the A.
