Sometimes you have to wait on a trade for a few years to fully assess it....Now that Dahlen has been cut loose by San Jose, the Canucks are left with Karlsson, who looks like a player.

His skating needs to improve, but there's no denying the offensive creativity. He broke Petey's rookie scoring record in the SHL and although he'll start the year in Abbotsford, I can see him getting into NHL games this season.

I'm wondering if Linus Karlsson can be a future two-way center for us that can take on tougher defensive match-ups to free up our top two lines (and centres) for more offensive deployment (Horvat and Petey). I know Karlsson's frame is a little smallish, but his defensive game seems to be pretty solid. He also has enough offensive creativity in him where he wouldn't be a Sutter or a Beagle (i.e. inability to utilize his linemates).
