I honestly don't know much about him. 4 goals, 8 assists for 12 points in 28 games this year. -10. Last year he was a shocking -40 (by far worst on his team).

I'll defer to those who know more about him, but I've never been a fan of this prospect.

Looked serviceable at the Prospects Tournament and not too bad representing the Q in the recent Subway series against the Russians ....but needs to get a lot stronger to make in the pros....and the shot is Tanev-like, so not much potential as a pp guy...needs to find a better team to play for the Q. Hopefully gets traded.

Don't see the point of signing him right now. That being said, hopefully his production picks up a bit and I believe it has since the really cold start of his. He's certainly not having a season (so far) that screams sign me now, but whatever.

Not sure what could possibly be wrong with a move like this. I'll just read the comments to find out...

See a lot of Mattias Ekholm in him. Won't put up the points but will be a solid puck-moving defenceman.

It didn't need to happen now, but it's pretty common to sign your high draft picks earlier than needed. The guy isn't Mackenze Stewart, he's a real prospect who was always going to be signed.

it locks down a contract spot when it wasnt necessary to do so

His contract will slide.

Actually signing him before the new year does matter.

His contact will likely slide for two seasons now, which will bring his cap hit down when his contract stops sliding.

That's one of the reasons you see a bunch of prospects get signed every year before the new year.

that two year slide is only useful if we expect him to be in the AHL next year. otherwise they could just sign him two years from now and not accept useless liability.

Flames fan coming in peace.

I saw this thread title and I immediately started having mini Guillaume Desbiens flashbacks. NVM

Hes a while away. I dont really have expectations for him. Corrado 2.0 maybe?

Q dmen scare me, even the ones that put up big points dont turn out well. Vlasic + Letang are the only true top 4 dmen in the league today that are from the Q in the last 10 years.
