Confirmed with Link: Canucks sign D - Brogan Rafferty

I'm wondering if Rafferty is being showcased prior to the trade deadline? Right shooting d-men with some offensive upside are always in demand.

But looking less likely that he gets a decent shot with the Canucks, and he's a group 6 UFA at the end of the season, which means he can walk for nothing.

I think Rafferty won't be retained as we need to make space for Rathbone and we also need another shut down/PK guy assuming that Benn and Hamonic won't be returning. Even if Hamonic does re-sign, I'd much rather put Rafferty's contract and cap hit towards Tryamkin just to have another D man with his skill set on the roster and to have him become part of the team before he becomes a UFA.
