If Vancouver is even listening to offers on Hughes LA better be right in their ear.

Because half the team gives 0 shits half the time
so at any given moment in a Canucks game roughly 25% of their players give zero shits

I will probably regret this, but oh well here we go:

To NYI:

Boeser (6.65M x 2 more years)
Pearson (3.25 x 1 more year)
Total: 9.9M + 3 contract years

To VAN:

Beauvillier (4.15M x 1 more year)
Palmieri (5M x 2 more years)
Dufour (750k, RW B prospect)
Total: 9.9M + 3 contract years (and an ELC contract)

So, cap space and remaining contract years match, and NYI takes Boeser on for Beauvillier and Dufour, but to make up for his high salary, VAN takes a worse cap dump (Palmieri for Pearson, who has 1 additional year).

I feel like this would make sense - Boeser has higher potential than Beauvillier, they are near the same age and should benefit from a change of scenery, no? Just Boeser's salary that is an issue...

I think Canucks say no.

We would have to extend Beau whereas Pearson expires. The player swap seems whatever, but the contracts are more important.

We would let Pearson expire and assuming Beau will want to make around $4M in his next deal, we'll be short $3M so no thanks.

Agree partially. The core needs a shakeup but we need to keep Petey, Hughes and Demko

Canucks record shows, they're very good offensively but their defence is atrocious. That clearly outlines that they need to improve the defence and have a coach that teaches structure.

A high pressure market like Vancouver will never allow for a scorched earth rebuild. It may be what’s needed, but it won’t happen
You know aside from the Vancouver market and fans wanting a rebuild for years. I live in Vancouver, and its none stop here. The only people who don't want a rebuild is the Aquilini's. Their pure refusal for the a rebuild for the last 6 years is the problem.

And by decline you mean forced retirements because of injuries. Yeah when your two best players are told by doctors one of you will never Olay again and the other probably won't either you aren't left with many options especially when your 2 and 3 C leave that same summer.

Montreal was forced to rebuild wasn't really chosen.
Exactly

Why would they go for a rebuild when the market continually lines their pockets regardless of the on ice product? They have no reason to not try and keep “going for it”

Thing is, the Canucks are one of the highest scoring teams in the league, if Demko can bounce back and if they can get a good defenseman they could make some noise.

The problem is that they are high scoring because they play absolutely no team defence. None. So players are playing for themselves and padding their stats and ignoring the defensive responsibilities it won't matter how good Demko is, he can't stop the high percentage chances they are giving up nightly.

The culture around the team is so toxic and negative that this is becoming a bigger problem than shipping out Boeser and Horvat if they dont' move soon. It may be too late as it is and EP40 could pull a Tkachuk or Bure.
