Not really. You know most NHL teams carry 14 forwards, right?
If I'm the Canucks, I'm trying to find any taker for Brad Richardson, and sign Paul Byron at half the price.
Pretty sure the "meat and potatoes" model precludes adding a 153 lbs centre like Byron. If I'm the Canucks, I'm trying to find any taker for Brad Richardson, and sign Paul Byron at half the price.
Not really.
Most teams carry 1 extra forward and 1 extra Dman.
I think the Nucks will do that next year, esp since Yannick can play 4th line forward in a pinch.
Byron was already signed by the Flames.
Nah, they didn't qualify him. Probably needed to make space for quality players like Derek Engelland.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to carry 3 guys in the press box.You think the Canucks will have a 22 man roster all season? K buddy.

I thought almost all teams carried 23 on the roster.
I'm all for trying to improve what we have; but dumping Brad Richardson without getting another center first would leave us with a laughable center depth chart (not that it's great now).
heh-heh, we're paying Dorsett more than either one of those two. It's really irritating me that we're paying Richardson $1.2M while Santorelli walks for $1.5M. Santo's worth 10 times the difference in their salaries.
I actually like Dorsett, plus possession guy, but yeah...yeesh. Santorelli would be so great for this team right now.
Yeah let me be clear, I'd only advocate ditching Richardson if he we can bring in a cheaper, equivalent replacement.

Thought he was one of the few who was playing like he gave a damn down the stretch, which I liked.
