Already seeing the posts on Twitter from idiots that are lamenting this a successful hire because the guy won multiple cups as GM. Do people not f***ing learn?

This organization needs 2 clearly defined positions. A mis-Match of both feels desperate and forced.

What other teams have someone filling both rolls?

The majority, honestly. Gillis held both roles.

The 2 person model is newer and only recently have some teams moved in that direction.

They said they are going to take their time finding the right guy(s). So really hoping this is only part 1… JR as POHO and then search is still ongoing for the right GM. Hoping!!!!
JR is an old school fossil(Reaves, Gudbranson, Jack Johnson moves).

Good chance he brings in another guy who hates numbers as the next GM if he’s the POHO

Imagine hiring a guy who traded a 1st round pick for Ryan Reeves

that should disqualify you everything EVER
This is bullshit. You're spreading misinformation.

The trade was:
Reaves and a 2nd (51st overall)
for
Sundqvist and a 1st (31st overall)

So, the penguins dropped 20 spots in the draft in order to swap Sundqvist for Reaves. I'm not necessarily saying it was a good trade. But to say "they traded a 1st for Reaves" is completely missing the point. Similar to the Barclay Goodrow trade to Tampa.

This idea that a first round pick has some sort of special magical power is strange. As if the 32nd pick is disproportionately more valuable than the 33rd.
