I'm not really too critical of Green, but would it hurt to try something different with the lines? Or are you happy just being the 3rd worst team in the league and riding out the season?

Miller-EP-Hoglander
Pearson-Horvat-Boeser
Virtanen-Gaudette/MacEwen
Roussel-Beagle-Sutter

.. or slide Gaudette up into the top six, Pearson down. Whatever. Do something.

If they haven't done so the past 6 years...I know they certainly won't this year.
I share those same concerns. All divisonal games, so Edm/Cal/Mon/Win when they play each other someone is going to get 2 points. So, there is little chance to catch up if they don't win series. No consecutive wins outside of against Ottawa this season.

We really should know by the end of March over these next 16 games where they are. 4 games each against Win and Mon who have had their number this season. Along with 3 against Edm and 1 with Cal. These 12 games should dictate their course of action. If they end up splitting these games with just 12/13 points, then they aren't making up any ground.

They have 2 each vs Tor and Ott, and likely to split those. So, if they obtain just 18/32 points then they are at 36 points with just 18 games left. If the 4th place team has an 8 point lead, I don't think they will catch up. No consistency in their play this season to lead you to believe that they can string together any sort of winning streak. Very hard to sweep series.

It would be nice if Green changed the philosophy of his systems to being more in tune with our lineup too. We are a slow group.

May not be possible. UFA cap savings: Pearson, Sutter, Edler, Benn, Hamonic, Sven, Spooner. Total cap hit (less the $1 mill saved on Sven being on the taxi) is about $20.5 million. Currently, only 5 of these guys occupy a roster spot. So, if they are replaced with $1 million players, like Rathbone, Lockwood, Podkolzin and vets that frees up $14.5 mill. Need to sign key RFA in Petey, Hughes, Demko. Demko in under $3 mill like Blackwood. So, he takes away around $1.5-$1.8 mill of that cap space. Leaving under $13 mill to split between Petey and Hughes. If one is an $8 mill and the other a $7 mill cap hit, then there's really no more cap space to add an upgrade.

Thus, they need to move their UFAs this season for draft picks and then look into flipping those picks with a bad contract like Eriksson to free up cap space. Only way to get an upgrade over the current roster, barring a Miller trade. I'd add Virtanen to the list of guys that the team should move off.

If they haven't done so the past 6 years...I know they certainly won't this year.

YAAA, at last someone who can add and subtract. Sure beats all the just do this or do that ideas that don't take into account things like....money.

They, meaning Benning, have not done that but IMHO, Benning is done. The fans will not put up with another year of lies, false hope and ought right mismanagement. They will show up with bags on their heads and be chanting Fire Benning, IF they show up.

Nationwide the Canucks have become a byline, hardly mentioned at all, of no consequence to the sports reporting of the day or standings. Did you catch one of the "panel" chuckle when another was saying the Canucks were "just that close"

ANY team is "close" if they Vezina type goaltending in the postseason AND face a team that has difficulty putting teams away because they lack enough elite goal scoring (e.g. Vegas)

My predictions are for this series.
Game 1:
It's a close game, the Canucks limit McDavid to 1 or 0 points. But the Canucks lose 4-2.
Game 2:
McDavid pops off and gets 3-4 points and the game devolves into a complete shitshow with 10 goals.

I'm okay with 10 goals scored. Canucks win 6-4. Pearson gets the 6th goal into an empty net to avoid o/t.
Yeah, I'm fine with that. :towel:
