Are we the only team in the league that has never won the Cup and also never picked 1st overall? I'm honestly struggling to think of another team that's had neither of those things, it feels like everybody else has done at least one or the other.
Ok , @bbud and I lied. Does it change anything though? It’s still BS

Drafting goalies is such a weird thing. Finding a player like Silovs in the late rounds is insane. Looks like a starter already at 21.
San Jose would give up a lot for him

Pretty similar timeline to Boudreau

huge increase in the teams underlying numbers through the first 10 games, then it tanks back to the baseline.

pretty par for the course.

Every year, when you get into garbage time at the end of the year, some players step up and look like they've got something. However, when you get back to reality in the next season, they usually fade. That said, you can have some hope, given the way some players are finishing off the season, that they could help the team in the future. . All of Silovs, Wolanin, Burroughs and even Juulsen have exceeded expectations. Others like Podkolzin, Aman and Joshua are looking much more like bona fide NHLers. Outside of that hope, these wins are meaningless. We have seen in the past, there is no carry over effect and they only screw up your draft.

Good

Silvos - at times lunging forward too much but he made a number of very good saves and was mostly steady. Good in the shoot out. Showing promise

Pettersson - in a class by himself. Elite talent will always win out (and that is why the draft is so important). Team was very fortunate to have taken him in the draft rather than Glass, who looks like a total bust.

Burroughs - moving so well with and without the puck. Is he better than OEL?

Hughes - maybe not as effective in this game but still dominated much of the play. Seems to have the puck all of the time.

Wolanin - game time continues to increase. Player showed again the range in his play. Can join the offense and still get back in the play defensively. Might be making himself more difficult to re-sign however.

Myers - continued a good string of games.

Not Good

Boeser - had zero impact. Had to look to find him. Doing nothing of consequence. Simply a plug in this one.

Dries - one of his poorer games especially in his end. Trying to catch up to the play all game.

Others

Kravtsov - little better. More in the play but must hold his feet better. You can't accomplish much when you are on your butt. When he joined the team he said something about being in the gym a lot, recognizing the need to get stronger. He's on the mark there. Him, Podkolzin and Klimovich all need to increase their lower body strength.

Hughes Pettersson Miller continue to carry this team.

Millers numbers were insane for this game 7 shot attempts 7 hits 2 blocks 15-7 faceoffs and kicks the crap out of Smith. too bad he was with PDG and Boeser who didnt provide much help this game. Should give him a few shifts with the Step Brothers.

Pettersson starts it and finishes it. What can you say? He's not a Bedard fan i guess

Hughes is insane right now. Just dominating the game. If he had a better shot he would be equal with Makar

Wolainin is smooth as silk in transition and skates really well. Does what you expect from a high end D which is fakes look offs and then delivers with precision and timing. It's really nice to watch. Not sure if he can sustain it but he's what we hope OEL would be right now.

One of Burroughs better games but it's still tough to watch his passing and puck support. Nice to finally get an assist. Brisebois and Juulsen are showing why they are AHLers. Myers has been much better but tired as this game went along and started getting hung up in the play.

Kuzmenko Beauvillier had a fair amount of jump and were buzzing but were not very precise in the final 1/3rd. A liitle off this game with passes and finish

Joshua and Amen another very good game. Joshua was especially showing of some crafty hands and creativity. Nice power drive for the goal and Amen can just fly and is coming into his own. Great drive and pass and tracks all over the ice breaking things up. Becoming 2/3rds of a very effective 4th line. Thought Garland helped by having someone that has some better skill and ability to make plays but he mostly was rubbed out of the play and didnt get too much going

Step brothers were pretty good. Podkolzin especially was determined. Nice to see him get another goal. Unfortunatly Dries is in a funk and was just terrible trying to aid the cycle. kravtsov has to continue to play with urgency

Congrats to Silovs. Hard to believe he's 21 yrs old. Kid has a bright future. Lateral movement is unreal

Lock Wolanin up for 3-4 years asap
If he keeps playing like this and we can get him longer term for around 2ish a year, that’s incredible value to have in your top 4.
Prob can get him for less.

He doesn’t have a sample size for 2M and he’s been a career AHLer so far.

Something like 3 years at 1.66 should do the trick. Hard to pass up almost 5M for a career AHLer with 78 games of experience
