Can’t feel sorry for Edm. Yes they will always struggled to attract players there, but that’s no excuse for poor player development and drafting which has to be their lifeblood. Get guys in there Young so that they build an attachment to the city.

McDari gave the max term unlike win and cal who had to move off Trouba, PLD, Tkachuk after bridge deals and only had them for 6 seasons. This is year 9 for Connor and basically 10 for Drai.

Superstars are people too, just need to know what motivates them and how to use that to get what you need out of them. IMO it needs to be something of a symbiotic relationship between the players and the coaching staff.
agreed but when the reputation and the personality of the player is that high it can be difficult for any coach to get the players on board. Lemieux was probably the worst offender. But that was a different era for coaches never having dealt with players so entitled before.
In the case of Wayne getting Ftorek fired, it wasn't intentional but Robby was clearly in over his head with these vets who knew the game better than he did.

With the Penguins they brought in a stellar coaching staff the team could respect. Michael Jordan pretty much picked his own coach, or at least got the team to buy into Phil Jackson's weird style that they were some band of warriors. (The Pens brought in Ivan Hlinka thinking he would command respect on his reputation and be able to coach Jagr but the opposite happened. They didn't do their homework to discover how lazy Ivan could be.)

Maybe that's what McDavid needs to do, pick his own coach. Debatable that how that worked for Messier for us :) but he got rid of Roger Neilsen for the Rangers.

I think it would be shortsighted to sit Beauvillier and further degrade his value. He's an obvious trade candidate and you want to make the case that he is still a middle six player. He's also capable of playing higher up the lineup in a complementary role, which is important in case of injuries down the line.
Depends - the goal right now is to win hockey games not cover the spread between a 4th and 5th round pick if we are trading a guy

Beau has been around awhile - do we really think him getting scratched really truly affects his trade value? Getting scratched doesnt injure him, doesnt drastically alter his strengths and weaknesses, or turn him into an asshole. He is a known commodity - a few scratches wont do anythimg to his value, the market and other teams interest does that

Hiding under WTG's bed...
Also I noted that the two supposedly great defensemen who were traded to Oilers basically turned into shit after 1 season, Larsson, and now Ekholm
Well the great Sam Gagner actually had talent/skill. It was the dogshit between the ears that was the problem. Jim Benning (*NO* this isn't another rant against him as I actually have *ZERO* issue with him on this case) gives him a good contract in the off-season of free agency. Guy promptly snoozes thru training camp and continues this sleep-walking at the start of the regular season. Willie D (who I also will *NOT* fault him in this situation) rights decides this lazy ass shouldn't be on the parent club and sends him down to the minors. Jim Benning as a further act of compassion (I'm still *STILL* serious here now) decides to loan him to the Toronto Marlies so he could be closer to his family despite the Moose having a dire shortage of centers (and the Marlies are a direct divisional rival).

After all that Sam Gagner, thru his agent (as he's too much a gutless coward to do it himself), still bad mouths Jim Benning in public. This one case, management, from the GM to the head coach handled the case perfectly (imho) & the guy just collecting a paychecks still cries. **** him.

Impossible. I thought EVERYTHING was Myers' fault...
Yeah, clearly Tyler Myers has been unfairly maligned. It's not the incredibly bad play he's brought to the club over the past four years, people just don't like his long neck.

Hmm. Except now that his play improves, everyone notices it and comments on the positive changes. That shouldn't be happening for comments like yours to be applicable. It's not like everyone is still rage posting against him.

Watching McDavid and Draisaitl come totally unhinged in this game was worth the price of admission.

How do you go from being one of the Cup favorites in September to a place where the Oilers are in early November? Still hard to wrap your head around.

No of course not it only happens when he steps on the ice and touches the puck. There is a legion of posters here who, I swear, watch only him and comment on literally every shift. If something bad happens it is invariably traced back to him by these people and if he does something good, (like, say, score a goal or pull off a good defensive play) there's either a host of sarcastic comments or, more usually, crickets. The current Guddy...

It clearly was..looking at McDavid,Draisaitl, and Hyman all together in the penalty box (also their coach was tossed) was the look of a frustrated, defeated team.

When your only off season move was acquiring Connor Brown, and not shoring up your goaltending and D..there was going to be ramifications..That's on Kenny.

The worst part for them , is they cant really do anything about it..They're right up to the cap.

There's ample evidence to the opposite of this, in game. Sure, some folks are a bit slow to laud getting a puck out instead of turning it over again, but on the whole posters do respond appropriately when improvement is shown by Myers and others. The position that Myers on the whole is unfairly criticized is not very defensible. If you want to pick the odd play to disagree, you'll find them, but that's still not emblematic of the general attitude.
