Now is the time to try Lockwood, Woo and see what you have for next year. Maybe even Klimovich for limited minutes, but this better not be another off-season where we don't have any prospects with NHL experience.

Add in Rathbone as well for some extended Time in the big club plus some Off-Side play from some of our Defence men to see what they can do.

Should be a sure thing.

The same line up, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is usually defined as insanity but Benning constructed this group to be one dimensional and Bruce and Green before him, have little in the cupboard to change anything.

Should be a win and again what does it matter? Except a poorer draft number in the long run.

Can't wait for the next plan/group to finally be revealed instead of letting certain hints out all the time.

The Kraken have more goals than SJ, pretty much the same amount of goals we do, and are barely behind the Kings.

They're right in the middle of the pack for even strength scoring and significantly ahead of us.

Their biggest issue has not been scoring by a long shot.

We have no problem laughing at Binnington for throwing the series in the bubble, but for some reason a lot of people have a hard time getting past their "expansion team must suck at everything" bias to see the 0.890 save percentages of Seattle's goalies.

They're getting playoff Binnington goaltending. If they got average gaoltending they'd be right in the mix. If they got the same quality of goaltending that their goalies have put up for the last few years they'd probably be where people were predicting.

.890 seems generous. I thought they had way worse goaltending than that.

Ok does everyone here tagging on the krakens offence not realize the Canucks have a whole 2 goals more than them?

Both teams have 132 goals.

Canucks have two more shootout wins, which are counted as goals in the "official" totals for some stupid reason.

But yeah, Seattle's offense has really fallen off since they lost Tanev and Schwartz at the end of the year. It was middle of the pack for most of the season.

They're currently 19th in the league in even strength goals. The forward group is right in the middle of the pack 5 on 5.

We're 5th last in the league in even strength goals for reference.
Canucks are 12th in goals against per game. Does this mean we have a good d core?

I think our biggest problem at Es is that our forward group is small and doesnt really create space out there. They have lots of skill but arent able to create space for themselves. Also the lack of physicality makes it easy for teams to sustain zone time against us.

They have a lot more problems than just their goaltending. Forward group is among the worst in the league.

When I checked the numbers a week or so ago, with league average .910 goaltending they would have a +4 goal differential and would be right with teams like LA and Anaheim in the playoff picture.

Conversely with league average goaltending our goal differential would be like -20.

The models for that team weren’t terrible aside from not projecting historically bad goaltending from a tandem that appeared to be top 5-8 in the NHL on paper and the team’s biggest strength.

The goaltending issue (I can't believe I'm defending them) has a lot to do with their coach's system which hangs them out to dry to try and produce offense instead. So the offensive numbers are a bit of a mirage, had they been playing a less risky system which most teams employ, their GF would suffer. Both of these goalies came from good teams last year and are now on a bad one, that's going to deflate that save % too since they will be facing more high danger chances than they would have in Colorado or Florida. It's a bit funny though, given how lots of posters were swearing up and down that this defense and goaltending tandem would be lights out and put them in the playoff race. Their Defense is a bunch of #4's playing above their heads. I think putting this all at the feet of the goaltending might be missing the real issues here, not to say they have been good in a vacuum either though.

Maybe if our 215lb captain led by example others would follow..
