there's no way. there was only a single bidder. the canucks had to threaten to do radio and tv in house over the internet or something just to not get completely lowballed
Like every other deal in the world that involves an incumbent, Sportsnet likely had exclusive bidding rights for a limited time window. The canucks were apparently happy enough with the offer to sign before the window closed and anyone else could bid. They routinely get more viewers than the majority of US teams (even in bigger markets) and for sure only Toronto and Montreal outdraw them in Canada. Been that way for along time. Why would the canucks go for a low-ball deal if all they had to do was wait for someone else to outbid Rogers? And I'm pretty sure they never "threatened" to do TV in house. And radio money brings in a tiny fraction of what local TV does.

there's only one sports radio station in town and tsn don't give a shit about the west. the canucks could wait until the heat death of the universe and rogers sportsnet would still be the only bidder

Are you saying Aquilini allowed the Canucks to be low-balled by Sportsnet? lol. TSN paid 400 million to the Senators in 2014 for 12 years of regional games. That's considerably more than Sportsnet has been paying the Canucks until now. TSN were the only bidders.
