Amazing considering how poor we were not days ago. Boudreau has the moral high as ever and players having fun. Another 2 weeks and we might be in a wild card spot. Who could have said that even two weeks ago.

Boudreau for supreme Overlord.

Given the personnel on the blue line this was another good effort. Could quibble about how they went about it and worry about how long Demko can carry the backend but the team is finding ways to wins. The impossible (be in contention for a playoff position) now seems at least conceivable.

Good

Demko - looked like there was no way they could score on him once they got to the shoot out. Little lucky at times but also brilliant at times

Hoglander - nice to see him back scoring. Get the feeling that in the long run he will be streaky time of goal scorer. Best game in awhile

Myers - right now he is playing like #1 d-man. When he is like this he is earning his salary. Maybe the type of player that needs to be given more responsibility. Is showing what he can be and just have to hope that he continue to show it.

Hughes - is using his speed in the defensive zone to break up plays and push people to the outside. Doubt there is any better in the League at rushing or passing the puck out of his zone. The one last thing you like Hughes to add to arsenal is a better shot from the line. However the way he is filling out his defensive and offensive potential, you'd think that might be coming soon.

Garland - - don't remember a goalie getting so deked out. Garland had him fully out of the net. Don't understand why he isn't used more in the shoot outs.

Horvat - to me that was his best game. Work in his own end and along the boards was way better than usual and he was getting up enough to speed to get on players as they are rushing the puck up out their end or through the neutral zone. There were games this year when Horvat seemed to be resting in the play and looked barely winded when he got to the bench. By the end of this one, Horvat was lathered in sweat and red as beet. This was so much a better effort than under Green.

Poolman - far from pretty and far from being mistake free. However he was steeping up to make plays and doing a better job of passing the puck up. Thought he was a positive and played decently as top 4 player. This is likely the best you are getting out of this player.

Schenn - keeping It simple but playing effectively.

Pearson - very strong defensively - is accepting that role under Boudreau.

Bad

Chaisson - just was who he is in this game.

Others

Boeser - needs to get his shot on net. Had chances but did very little with them. Some overall improvement in his play and trying harder but he needs to start showing better touch with the puck. Skating a bit of an issue in this game

Pettersson - continues to go down way too easily - can't hold his feet. Also he always seems to stick handle the puck a couple of times before doing anything with it. Seems almost like a nervous habit. On the other hand, he sometime makes the unexpected play which catches teammates going the wrong way. You see signs, now and then, of his talent but so much of it is negated by his stuttering puck movement.

Miller - certainly not at his best - looks like injury might be effecting his speed. Had chances to get in on net but couldn't get the separation he usually can.

Hopefully they get some d-men back b/c right now they are way too dependent on Myers and Hughes. If so, the team might be able to really build off the their present success. Also, the lack of depth points to maybe the most serious deficiency of the Benning era - the inability to provide decent top to bottom defense.

@Vector who the hell knows if he caught Covid or not, it’s not like the pandemic ended and Sweden is like the shining example of how to deal with Covid. We know that Petey worked hard every off season as well so it’s out of character for him not to work out. Who knows when his wrist injury healed and if that inhibited him from working out.

The game was very sloppy reminiscent of a Travis Green coached team.

I doubt Bruce has had a lot of time to run practices with the team so I don't think they've truly turned a corner just yet

f***in’ A, another win. Let’s keep em coming.

Even though Winnipeg was on the second half of a back to back, impressed and pleased to get the win with our patchwork defense.

Hoglander had a great night (and got some OT shifts!)

Pearson had a rough night (and got some OT shifts…)

Imagine instead of Pearson and Myers we have Tanev Toffoli and maybe Stecher.

EDIT: found this randomly on YouTube, looks like it's from 2010.

In a speech that lasted 60 seconds I counted 15 f***s lol.

This is some Full Metal Jacket level shit.

Considering our further weakened defense corps, I'm amazed that we pulled this one off. Demko was fabulous and the forwards gave the D a lot of support against a tough Jets team.

It's great to look forward to games now. Bring on the Canes!
