Boeser played that draw 100% correctly. Just a great play by the other team.

My thoughts too Boeser just was only canucks player near he went to his check and that was a well executed play .

Solid game

Good games and efforts from Horvat Pearson OEL Garland Pettersson Miller Schenn and the Lammikko line

Podkolzin an absolute 200ft beast tonight and the GW goal

Hoglander had some minor issues that have crept into his game but that goal was huge and his effort was much more consistent nice to see

Hughes was awful. Sluggish, getting beat to pucks bad decisions, showing a lot of wear might be time to give OEL the PP1 to let him get some breathers. He was poor on this road trip so far.

Myers was ok but man that turnover and screen is such a giraffe gaffe

Boeser actually skated and competed better in this game but just an awful turnover and missed on a slough of chances. He's pretty much a liability at this time. 7.5 QO lol yes ok pal

Pretty bad when Hunt is the better of the 2 on a pairing but Hamonic was awful and that was the case. Hunt played good given his capabilities. Chiasson is a meme at this point...him and Schaller are the 2 worst players i can remember for this team.

Demko didnt have to be great and was solid as per usual

If we gonna be doing a retool, I think maybe we should keep Miller. Hoglander finally ended his cold streak.

Boeser...not sure what to do, we either trade him low now or consider his...7.5 mil qualifying offer? Eh...

Didnt watch the game closely but garland looked like he was having an excellent game in the 2nd and 3rd period, all over the ice.

Feel like Bruce needs to try him on the pk.

Happy to see the young guys make meaningful contributions. Hockey isn't always about wins and losses but building confidence and skills.

All in all, a good road and bounce back game. Had some real periods of dominance although lot of that undone by individual breakdowns (especially in puck movement) and sloppy power play
where puck movement again a significant factor.

Good

Garland - kind of willed the team back into the game with some great shifts in the offensive zone. thought he was a critical factor in sustaining what momentum the team could create

Motte - very strong in the early going allowing the team to get a decent start. Line wasn't always able to pin Islanders in their own end but when they did Motte was the key.

Hughes - not always perfect but his ability to get the puck out of his end and cover back for Schenn was important.

Podkolzin - didn't have a bad shift in this game. Positionally very good and excellent at getting in shooting lanes (as were many tonight) and scored a r very nice goal. Does have an excellent shot that suggest some top 6 potential.

Bad

Chaisson - can play a lot worse than this but bad enough to show off his atrocious skating and puck handling.

Horvat - nice assist and good in the circle but in the run of the game just flat out too slow and awkward. Showed a total inability to adjust to passes throughout and did a good deal to screw up the PP. Not alone there however.

Hamonic - hacked and wacked away but got very little done. Team was often in trouble with him on the ice. Disappointing season. Wasn't helping Hunt any with his sloppy play.

Others

Boeser - if he isn't scoring he is a liability. Thought he skated a little better but butchered some chances and was iffy in his own zone. Him and Miller got together on the one goal but other wise made some dreadful passes leading to turnovers and chances against.

Hoglander -brutal in the first and fighting the puck something awful. Got better as the game went on and it was great to see him score.

Myers - interspersed some strong play with some panicky passing. Effort usually there but also looked gassed at times and reduced to banging the puck out of his zone any way he could.

One thing we've seen this year is just how streaky many of the players are on this team. Someone like Boeser can get on a little run and then go cold as ice. Same with Myers, Garland and a bunch of them. Rare that everyone is going good. This individual issue is reflected in the performance of the team and helps explain the inability to get on a prolonged run (outside of the Boudreau Bounce). Makes you think that, in spite of victories like this, the team does not have the juice to get on the type of win streak needed to get a playoff spot. Mentioned before, but all indications are that we end up just out of the playoffs.

Hughes since being out with Covid Protocols has been brutal

he won't skate, and passes the puck as hard as he can from his own goal line out to a forward at center ice and the pass is rarely completed.

like a handful of players can stick with him when he skates the puck up, and he won't do it.
he is a so tough to cover when he skates the puck up as they dont know whether to check him or cover his short passes.

Podkolzin with goals in back to back games and up to 10 on the season.....will probably finish the season with 15-20 goals. Just a solid rookie campaign.

But it's his play away from the puck and on the forecheck that gets my attention. He's a beast out there, and will only get better. Definitely a keeper from that 2019 draft class.

Demko has won his last 4 starts and 7 out of his last 8 (i.e. since the all star break).

With Demko starting, the Canucks are actually on a nice win streak.

Win one , lose one. Win one , lose one. Win one , lose one.

There’s a very good chance we are going to

Miss the playoffs
Get a shitty mid range draft pick.
Not trade players due for a raise and lose them for nothing next year.

But the post right above yours said that QH43 was good tonight. This is why sports are subjective. You could think someone played well and someone else thinks they played poorly.
