this reeks of another loser point scenario. seems like we typically manage to lose in shootout or OT to them (well and everybody else too but especially them)

Bolded games ought to be relatively winnable. Italicized games will be decidedly more difficult. If we roll into that road trip 1-1-2 or some BS like that, we stand a good chance of being 1-4-2 in a couple of weeks. That doesn't sound crippling, but then you look at what your record needs to be for the next 75 games (approximately 43-25-7) and it's like... oh. So maybe that October game in Columbus was kind of important.

Going into the season I wanted 3-1 out of the first four games. OTLs don't do much for me. Now I want wins in the next three.

This one's tricky to predict, but I'm going to go with snow game, arena roof structurally unstable, game to be played at an alternate site after conclusion of regular season if necessary, Canes and Jackets end in a perfect tie for the final wild card, minor league arena in Toledo agrees to host game in exchange for kickbacks to local government, Toledo mayor embroiled in scandal when discovered that he directed some of the money to his campaign fund, Bettman disavows knowledge of the scheme but retires rather than go through investigation, 5-1 loss.

The Canes starting October with an abysmal record like 1-4-2 will negate all the excitement and attendance dreams of the fans and owner. They are on a short leash.

Based on RBA’s postgame comments it sounds like we’ll be seeing more of Svech tonight, which would be great.

Canes take a nice 3-0 lead going into the 3rd, we start to think we have a great team. Third period comes around, we blow that lead. A shootout commences. Jaccob Slavin starts it off with his patented backhander, but misses. CBJ scores. Zykov comes up to bat next, he tries to snipe one top cheese, misses the net. CBJ scores, CBJ wins gaem.

 

[Boom Boom Apathy]

Maybe I’m being too pragmatic, but my thoughts were that if the team could tread water for the first 10 games or so until the lines get sorted out, the rookies come up to speed, and Darling gets back (can’t believe I just typed that), that the team would be in pretty good shape. Coming out of game 10 at .500 isn’t great, but I really think this team will get better as the season progresses. Just don’t dig too big of a hole through 10 games.
