Just got back from the ONT-BC and QUE-ALB games, and a ton of talent was on display.

QUE-ALB was a great game from start to finish. QUE showed a ton of speed and skill, where ALB's defence showed strong mobility despite their massive size. The refs once again played a massive part in this game, calling 17 infractions in total, topped off by a play where Greg Chase of BC went off with 6 pim's in one shift. A back and forth game that had a great OT, and had to be determined by a SO.

Players of note:

Anthony Duclair - Showed his speed and made a great play on De Luca's second, but was quiet for most of regulation. That said, overtime was where he shined. Was a threat for the whole ten minutes and did everything but end the game then. Shows a ton of potential for the next level.

Anthony De Luca - Really impressed with this kid. Showed a great shot and speed in a two-goal effort. He creates a lot of chances in the offensive zone and should be a great player at the next level.

Jonathan Drouin - Showed off some nice hands, but looked like he was trying to do too much early on. Scored once again in the SO.

Jeremy Gregoire - Big fan of this kid. He does so many of the little things well and shows a complete game. He got a high hockey IQ and was very strong on the puck. He also showed that he can be physical. Great game.

Maxime Gravel - Another solid game. Makes a lot of smart decisions from the backend. Needs to work on his play with the puck, but you can't teach his hockey sense.

Justin Vanier-Guenette - Played a very smart game. Did a great job getting two shots on net, which ended up in goals. Played physical as well.

Keegan Kanzig - Such a smooth skater considering his 6'5 frame. Once his hands catch up to his frame/speed, watch out. Tons of potential.

Spenser Jensen - Another solid skating giant defencemen. Was very physical and is a very attractive prospect for the dub.

Mason Geertsen/Jared Hauf - Two more big defenders that are very physical. They should give ONT's forwards some problems tomorrow.

Eric Comrie - Struggled early on tracking the puck from the puck, especially with the two PP goals in the first. That said, he was great from the second on, especially in OT.

Onto the ONT-BC game. This was the most impressive effort I've seen from a team yet. BC came out from the gate and just physically dominated ONT. ONT wasn't the same after they lost Ritchie for 10 mins. After the first it was still a close game, but BC was just too much during the 2nd period.

Players of note:

Curtis Lazar - Starts and ends with this kid. Just a force to be reckon with tonight. Was easily the best player on the ice and is one of the best players I've seen this tournament. What impressed me, besides the hat-trick and beauty shot, was how physical he was. Notably in the early going he was a force on the forecheck. He was also very strong on the puck and couldn't be stopped when he drove the net. (3+1)

Jackson Whistle - Was very solid all game, especially when ONT pushed back during the 3rd period.

Nicholas Ritchie - The only player of note at all for ONT. Showed flashes of why he's considered the top prospect in Ontario. Scored a great goal, where he got a partial breakaway, got tripped up and got back up before scoring. Tons of potential at the next level.

Looking forward to both the bronze and gold medal games tomorrow.

then Lazar ends it, pretty entertaining game by looks of it. Only seen the third. Lazar has to be a lock to make the Oil Kings next year.

Hadn't watched BC up until their game against Ontario yesterday and heard a good player to look out for was Reinhart, but Lazar WOW, this kid did it all yesterday. Not only doing it offensively but several big hits on Darnell Nurse alone leaving him beaten at the end of the game.

Lazar had a great tourny...but also you have to give a lot of credit to Petan...that kid is gonna be a beauty as well.

Its hard to compare MacKinnon to Lazar...MacKinnon was playing with guys who likely wouldnt have even made the BC roster...

Both are impressive guys thats for sure.
