Can PIT steal the 'Team of the Decade' title from Chicago with a 3rd Cup?

As much as it pains me to say this hating the hawks like i do...

Chicago will still be the better Team/Dynasty/ Whatever you want to call it. To get to and win the cups they have in an era of salary cap restraints and then hamstring themselves time after time year after year and continue to be able to put together cup teams is amazing. I dont know of another team that has had such constant turnover of important parts and still win the cups that they did.

They definitely can steal that title. But I think they need two more cups for it. This year and the next year or 2019.

Winning in 2009 would serve as the tiebreaker against Chicago.

who cares. I'm concerned with winning our 5th Cup. That said, if they do, I think it would put Crosby certainly in the Top 10 of all time. Perhaps as high as #6.

What is the criteria for team of the decade? If they have the same amount of Cups how does one differentiate between the two?

Dynasty is atleast 3 Cups in a 6 year span and that's stretching it.

Pens win this's year sets them up. We have a ton cap space next year and a lot of young cheap contracts who are good players.

The Penguins were really good, the the Blackhawks/Kings alternated with really good, then the Penguins were really good again. Screw your dynasty talk I'm just enjoying my team play great hockey.

All those years of Bylsma as coach and Fleury as 1G really ****ed the Pens over. They probably could have won at least a couple more cups this decade and been a legit dynasty (which Chicago is not).

Was New Jersey ever a "team of the decade" or were they just unfortunate to have won their first cup on the 6th year of the first decade?

Team of the decade is 2010-2020

You can't say past 10 years and say team of the decade that's just silly.

But they would be the team of the last 10 years cause of back to back. Hawks are still the 2010s team though

Wings were team of the decade in the 90s and 2000s. It's arguable it goes to the pens or something?

Team of the decade? No, cause one of their cups happened outside the decade. And, there was kind of a 6 year gap where they really didn't do anything of note, most of which occurred in the 2010s.

Best team of the cap era (or at least, most successful)? Yeah, I think they take that crown with a repeat.

they already are

I think series wins are a better measure than just single game wins.

If Pittsburgh wins the cup, they eclipse Chicago.

If the Penguins win the cup this year what would be the argument for any of the Chicago players being on the top 100 list before Malkin? Malkin is in Conn Smythe territory right now as well especially with the goalie change from Fleury to Murray....

Well, Chicago never won back 2 back. Which is one of the hardest things to do. If the Penguins manage that against a tough Predators team, then that's an easy yes.

Yeah, 2009 is not part of this decade. They would tie LA with a Cup this year. Of course after this year, there are still two more Cups up for grabs.

Uh no. Decade? LOL.

Change the title to "the past ten years"

Teams, players, etc of any "decade" are years 0-9

There's no debate or discussion. There's no semantics. Questions?

I think the team of the decade discussion is a good one. People just need to know 2009 is not part of this decade.
