Anyone else surprised he basically signed for the max ELC salary? I am on board to sign Hillis but where does it end if R3 players get the R1 treatment?

Where do you see they signed him to the max ELC?

Probably from cap friendly, but forgot to read the small print.

My boy. Bouchard should develop him well.

I like Bouchard's intensity and that he seems to instill a work ethic and discipline. But what indications have you seen that he is good at developing players' defensive awareness as well as their offensive effectiveness?

i wouldn't be surprised to see Bourque signing an AHL contract .At the end of next seasons, there will be few contracts ending , so if he plays well they could sign him next season.

Houde ?

If I'm not mistaken, him, McShane and Fonstad needs to go back in the draft if unsigned.

Honestly, McShane does have the skill level, but intensity isn't always there and always was scared of physical contests, Fonstad also is skilled but does have a bird frame, and Houde is just 'meh', nothing against those kids, but I won't lose sleep over them.

Edit: Used 'frisky' instead of 'scared of physical contests', so yeah...

Another season in the OHL maybe?

He can definitely head back to the OHL next year. But because he will be 20, he can turn pro.

Two criteria for a CHL player to turn pro:

- They turn 20 years old by December 31st of that year.
- They have already completed 4 years of Junior (even if they're under 20 years old - Fleury was an example).

I'd add Vejdemo, as well. Both he and Evans are two good examples of players who were good defensively, but under Bouchard, they improved in many areas of the game.

Agreed, and both looked at least decent in their NHL stints, enough that I hope they begin next season (whenever it'll be) in Montreal.

How could you possibly know this?

McShane or Fonstad would be worth the AHL contracts because if they progress you would hate to not have them around but that being said, neither took a big enough leap.

But they'd have to go undrafted for them to sign them to AHL contracts. They are still eligible to re-enter the draft.

If all three go undrafted, I'd give Fonstad, McShane, and Houde AHL deals.

How easy is it to dump a contract like Pezzetta?

Hillis, Ylonen, Brook, Primeau, Arsen plus Poehling, KK, Fleury, and Romanov? A lot of reasons to follow Laval when the AHL resumes.

Will be awesome to potentially add Harris, Norlinder, Fairbrother and Caufield next year too! Mind you, adding 3 rookie defencemen might not be the best way to go.
