DC and Draisatl would be fine. Starting to change opinion on Ritchie. Still have him at 4 though. But it's close with DC and Draisaitl. As long as we come lit of this draft with a couple of RW prospects, some grit/truculence and a couple of nice Dmen

As long as were in the top five I don't see a reason to move up. As much as I would like Ekblad for that top pairing D-man, I am warming up to the idea of another top level center.

I'm wondering if what we saw at the trade deadline is any indication of how teams value there first round picks. As in, you need to severely overpay to take away that oppurtunity to draft a nice prospect.

...but if it did happen I would assume it would be 25+ range and I would like to take a stab at Conner Bleackley.

Guys like Ritchie and Virtanen have around that to, but are more likely to be 60pt players. While that is fantastic, we are lacking top end skill in our system and need to get as much of it as possible. You don't pass on guys like Dal Colle or Draisaitl for that matter for any reason.

I think this is somewhat the result of skewed expectations. 60 points can be top end, just in a different way. I mean, on any given year only about 60 NHLers put up 60 or more points. That basically means top line is two 60 point players give or take.

Ritchie and Virtanen have the potential to be top end power forwards. That's a very rare quality in the NHL. Like very rare. Ritchie and Virtanen have JVR like potential, with Ritchie being more physical than JVR. Virtanen has his moments of intensity too, moments that are incredible to watch.

I don't think it's really that clear a distinction between Ritchie and Dal Colle

The more I read about these players the more I want Dal Colle. Just seems like hes potentially Sean Monahan plus. If we can add another Sean Monahan type player I would be super happy with our team.

I would love to see Dal Colle and Monahan together. Could be a beauty two-some one day

Can see us moving into the first round if we package up our 2nds. Would love to pick up Ho Sang.

Daisaitl vs Dal Colle

Ekblad vs Reinhart (I can't pick)

Virtanen vs Kapenen vs Perlini vs Nylander

McKoewn vs Fleury

Vrana vs Karlsson

McCann vs Barbashev

Dougherty vs DeAngelo

Serebryakov vs Demko

WHAT ABOUT 2nds, 3rds, 6th, 7th
I admittedly do not know much about this draft outside the first two rounds but I don't think we'll be able to pick up Nick Schmaltz, I think he's going late in the first. Also, while I don't think he's THAT small, I think Burke would hesitate to pick him up because he's under six foot.

And if we traded up with 2nds/3rds for 1st who would we draft?
I think we could move both our seconds for for a 25 through 30 pick, where I would like to see us pick up Anton Karlsson.

You're quickly becoming one of my favourite posters on this board.

Reading the 1st overall vs 3 1st round picks thread in the trade forum got me thinking..

Would you make that trade today?

Would you rather have Mackinnon over Monahan, Klimchuk, Poirier?
