What do you think is higher level hockey college or AHL?

The AHL, but what does that have to do with anything? There are hundreds of players who go to the NHL through the NCAA path...

He's going to play in the AHL this year. You discounting his chances at being a good NHL goalie on account of his age, and the fact that he's just coming out of college at that age, is one of the dumbest things written on this board in a very long time.

Yes many players go through that route but most are in the A by the time they are 20 or 21

And most of them start college at 18, and not 20... so... again... in what world is it logical to think he won't be good in the NHL simply because he's 24 years old? Most college players leave just prior to their senior year, so yes, 21-22. Many complete college, though, and leave at 22-23... I fail to see how him being in college at 24(and in particular one of the best college hockey programs in the country) is a guarantee that he's not going to make it as an NHL goalie. It's just nonsense. And what you said was basically a guarantee. You said "less than 1%".

Cale Morris recently turned 24. He was 23 during the last game he played. That's about the average age for a Senior athlete in college.

His stats don't scream "future starter", but they don't need to. He's a free lottery ticket. A guy who could be just an AHLer, an NHL backup, or if we're lucky, a starter; there have been other goaltenders who've gone onto be starters in the NHL after leaving college at a similar age. Who knows, but it costed us nothing to acquire him.

If you find a free lottery ticket on the ground, you don't bitch and moan about it likely not ending up a winner. You simply hope that you win and be glad that if you don't, you didn't lose anything.

f***, some of you people are going out of your way to be pissed at this organization.

So much this. People are reaching for everything and anything to be mad at. It's ridiculous.

Aaron Dell took the college route, and didn't debut in the NHL until 27.

But instead let's implore arbitrary cut offs for no reason...

He's 24 years old, its safe to say that odds of him seeing any meaningful NHL hockey are below 1% lol

Edit: Some are not understanding this, At 24 someone must have reached a higher level to be projected to reach the NHL, being 24 and still in college just means you are wayyyy behind in your development. I am certainly not saying no goalie makes it to the NHL at 24 as MANY goalies make it there at that age but have been brewing at higher levels for a few years.

If he was a forward yeah but goalies are different....
