Two years in the AHL isn't that crazy. Will be nice to win MVP and Stankoven can win Rookie of the Year.
No, it's not, but I would have thought he would have gotten a "sniff" of the NHL by now - especially as well as he has played.

Dallas also hasn't had a ton of forward injuries. If they'd called up multiple other players and not him he'd have a right to be mad but calling up Stankoven instead is hardly an insult. Blumel has been up a couple of times buy mostly as a healthy scratch so again Mav probably wouldn't have gotten to play anyway.

As long as he gets his chance. Hopefully it comes in the Fall.

Soeculation, but Seguin may get a day off on Saturday, so Bourque could have a top 9 spot available for at least one game.

Assuming he looks ready, and there's no reason to think he won't, I think most Stars' fans would love to see something like this in the playoffs:

Robertson - Hintz - Pavelski
Marchment - Duchene - Seguin
Benn - Johnston - Stankoven
Steel - Bourque - Dadonov
Faksa, Smith, Dellandrea

Bourque has been an excellent PKer in the AHL, so there's no reason to think he couldn't take spot duty on the PK at the NHL level (that way we'd still have 6 forwards that can PK).

What's up with Dellandrea. It looked like he turned a corner last year... only victim of the depth? didn't progressed or regressed? Little offense?

Stars are a deep team and Dellandrea is not better than anyone on the current roster, but he also didn't progress really yeah. There's nothing really there with him and it's obvious. Good PKer but we have those. Can't handle the puck while the other 4th line guys can at least maintain possession for a bit

At the same time tho, he is a 4th line guy on pretty much every other NHL team. Most would be very happy with a player of his caliber on the 4th line. Idiots like Reaves, Maroon, Martin and other plugs are still in the lineup every night.

Bourque and Stank are also familiar from the AHL . So putting him on that line makes most sense.

The trend of putting Benn with whatever rookie comes up continues. I don't mind it tbh, Bourque should fill that role well and Johnston is fine no matter where he is.
My initial thought was "wow they must really want Mav at center to break up that line" but that is a good point. Benn is some sort of youth vampire, so lets get him charged up for playoffs.

Awesome.

Was hoping to see him get the call-up before the end of the regular season, I guess with this back-to-back coming up they figured he could jump in and hit the ground running.

That said, assuming he spends the rest of the season with Dallas it'd be pretty funny if he managed to hang on for the AHL scoring title. Grimaldi probably catches him though, seven points back with eight games left.

Not sure he plays the whole rest of the year with the Stars . When the busy stretch ends after the Kraken game Stars have 3 days off before their final game. I think at the latest thats when he goes back to the AHL. Texas Stars also REALLY need him to make the playoffs.

He's just not very good and never was. He's from the previous era when the Stars drafted for intangibles and grit instead of... hockey ability.

Johnston (20) - 2021 first round pick, called up 1st
Stankoven (21) - 2021 second round pick, called up 2nd
Bourque (22) - 2020 first round pick, called up 3rd

Funny to see it play out in reverse order like that but hey, no complaints.

Here's hoping Bourque (and Stankoven) follow Wyatt's trajectory.
