Matthews will be considered by far the best of the 4 halfway through the season.

Matthews hasn't even broken 70 points, he can't even keep up with these defenseman as a forward. Guys by far in last right now.

Tavares and Matthews will outscore those two by about 60 points combined, and Tavares and Matthews are significantly better defensively.

Tavares who has never scored 90 points and Matthews who has never scored 70... haha good one. Matthews can teach Tavares how to no-show in the playoffs too.

I think it will be clear, but maybe not by far. That would be a tall order over a rejuvenated Karlsson. I think we will see big things with JT and Marner this year too.

If that’s your honest opinion of Matthews talent...yikes.

I'm almost certain they shared a fair amount of even strength time in the playoffs.

Naturalstattrick only goes back to 2007-08 (unfortunately, one year after their Cup season). But in 2007-08, they played a whopping 18:18 together in the regular season, and in the playoffs Pronger's most common partner was still O'Donnell 39:31 (though his minutes with Niedermayer did go up to 27:04).

lol
Like usual you show how little you know on hockey. points will be within 15 points total combined, and could go either way.

Karlsson/Burns will be a more dominant duo relative to their positions.

I seem to recall that they did.

They did not.

They were thrown together in an ad hoc fashion but were never a pairing at ES as often as they were not a pairing.

Another mistake people often make of this nature is the assumption that Redden and Chara played together often. It was relatively rare and only under special circumstances.

Beauchemin actually played the most minutes of all Anaheim D during the Cup run in 2007.

You take the franchise centers every time. Burns is probably the worst player out of these 4 due to the fact that he is the most sheltered with mediocre defensive results and although Karlsson is likely the best, we have no idea if last season is his new norm post injury.
Karlsson had 31 point in his last 29 games last season. We knew coming in out of shape and off surgery he might have a slow start, but he finished strong. That 10 game pointless stretch in November derped his numbers
