Our U23, average weight under 190lb team is not ready for playoff hockey, nowhere close. Nashville plays a heavy, playoff style and is exposing how fragile this team is.
That was painfully obvious tonight. Nashville has a veteran team with a smattering of kids. Ours is a bunch of kids with a smattering of bottom-6 veteran forwards and Clifton.

Hopefully someone in the organization will realize that internal development alone isn't nearly enough. Let's not crush the souls of another generation of young talent by denying them quality veteran leadership.

We're talking 2-3 vets, not even significant offensive producers, but not Grandpa EJs either. Guys who eagerly stick their beaks into rough play, finish every check with gusto, play hard to every whistle, skate their asses off on every backcheck, and demand likewise from everyone else. Bully guys like Skinner at practice and in the room until even he gets it.

Give them that and a full season of this calendar year's UPL, and this team is looking down in the standings at bubble teams.

Oh, and a coach. Ya, need a coach too.

After a full training camp and preseason with Donnie and his crew…he will look exactly like everyone else.
I need Donny gone by next year at any means necessary.

Perfect. Just in time to trade him away because we can't afford 3 D averaging 10 mil each.

Trust. The. Plan.
That Power contract is absurd.

Did anyone else think we look like a bunch of undersized boys against a team made of men out there tonight? They looked so much bigger than us.

We are miles from nowhere ….I can’t see how this team is remotely competitive against disciplined physical opponents. Playoff teams. Too cute. Often on the wrong side of thepuck. Byram looks good but we have little upfront that imposes its will on the other team. Hopefully KA has something up his sleeve, but absent that, I do not see them catching up to the top of the division any time soon Yeah Comrie was in, but UPL can’t play every night.

Yeah that's what Byram is when not getting screwed over by a coaching staff and put in the proper role. No clue why Krebs doesn't play more as he looks like your best forward and definitely need to sell on Power while you can...how did he get the contract he did?

The coach had never liked Krebs for some reason.

The most consistent player on Buffalo this season will probably be gone tomorrow too. The only player who seems to give the slightest shit about details.

This last week has me wondering if the only way forward is the miracle of winning Cellebrini.
He’d probably be stuck with Rousek and Peterka on his wings until the playoffs are out of reach.

I mean, it would suck to put him with a transition sieve and possession black hole like the ghost of Jeff Skinner.

He can play on the top line with Jordan Greenway and the rotting corpse of Jeff Skinner.

Greenway was second in TOI at forward today. And he had to go to the room for a while.

Because he PK'd 3:17? Cozens and Peterka were over 16 minutes at ES, 3 more than Greenway, and Tuch was over 14. So... yeah, not top line.

Skinner is a driver.
Constantly driving his line into shit dust
I read "diver' and laughed. And he's a chronic whiner. Yours works too.

Lots of guys getting torched in here tonight. Don't forget our cherry-picking, allergic to backchecking, Master of Mohawks.

3 more seasons at $9M with full NMC. Dios mio, man. Turning 32 in May, it's only going to get worse. I give up - buy him out if we can't deal him to the Leafs. It's worth it just to get his stench off the rest of the team.

But also don't forget that most of us would have been calling for Botts' head if he hadn't extended Skinner after that glorious 40 goal first season with Eichel. We're not always right either.

Hey, there's the traditional Skinner cherry-pick where he misses the pass and stops skating so it's called icing and then he bitches out the linesman all the way back down the ice.

He's like the Sabres equivalent of Matt Haack, a specialist who isn't special at what he specializes in, except Skinner piles on by being a complete fustercluck at everything else.
Okay, this one had me lirl.

I have to think that Skinner is high on the list when officials hang out over beers to laugh about the biggest asshats in the league.

another game where our so called back up goalie has a sub .850

this is a clear pattern. This guy should not even be in Rochester. He is not good enough

Agree, but the team played like crap in front of him too.

but still, the result is always the same for him, whereas UPL is making the saves. Even Levi was stopping more pucks

when 2 goalies are over .500 and the other is 6 games under, the goalie 6 games under is the problem

He is A problem. One of many. I find it hard to pin the entire failing of the team on a backup goaltender as THE problem.

Since 2/1 (15 games) including tonight the Sabres are 29th in xGF/60 at 5v5 in NST’s model. They’re 31st in GF/60.

Only Lukas Rousek had less ice time than Peyton Krebs for the Sabres tonight.

Just three shifts for Krebs in the 3rd. Didn't play the last six minutes of the game.

Good to know even without mitts, Krebs still can't buy ice time.
