I think that's bad logic. But niskanen is only 27 so I don't think he's a bad option to overpay.

Campbell is miles better than Niskanen though.

Only guy who could capably replace Soupy is Markov.

just heard on sportsnet that he did not request a trade but has said if a trade possibility comes up he would consider waiving his no trade but only to a contender.... so this isnt as bad as its made out to be... anyone at this stage of his career would probably want to play for a contender but its not like hes forcing it... i doubt he gets moved

I wouldn't mind trading an aging Campbell if we're serious about throwing big time bucks at guys like Orpik or Niskanen to shore up the D. You've got Louie in the pipes, now build out by having a solid top 4 D and use Campbell to bring in a top 6 forward? That would be worth exploring IMO and means you aren't depending on signing a Statsny for examply.

Campbell is probably as frustrated as the rest of us. He's approaching the last years of his career and wants to win - who wouldn't be frustrated with the perpetual rebuilding here?

Its unlikely that we could pull off both of those trades. ROR and Stasny are both centers which would push Barkov and Bjugstad to 3d and 4th center which would hinder their development. The chance we has of signing Vanek is <5%

Van gets Kuli+ gives them a younger, top 4 Dman to help with the rebuild
Col gets Campbell that helps give them a top Dman,who is seasoned, but can help solidify their back end.

Well, in reality, Tallon needs to do something fantastic this offseason in order to keep his job. If the rumors are true about Kuli and Campbell, then why not make an offer for Tanev+6th overall, as well as ROR?? Getting Markov isn't a pipedream, neither is Niskanen. We have tons of prospects we can try to deal, as well as money. True, having BOTH ROR and Stasny may be too much, so we can try for one and see who else we can bring in for wing.

Tanev is already better than Kulikov. Its believed that the Canucks want to trade up to #1 to select Reinhart, so they wouldn't trade Tanev for another d-man.

well unfortunately it'd take more than just kulikov to get RoR here. and no way vancouver trades the 6th pick AND tanev for a 35yr old campbell with 2yrs left. i wish though

Vancouver isn't trading their first round pick unless they're getting one back. They're going into rebuild mode, they don't need a declining Campbell right now. They need prospects. But hey, maybe if they still think they can compete with that dinosaur core that they have, then let's take advantage of it!
