I mean MacKinnon had 53 points in 82 games, his fourth season. So Eichel's development so far has been more impressive. I would not be surprised if he reaches the current MacKinnon level next season. He's at a 87 point pace this season. So another summer training, a hopefully better Buffalo, and being injury free, I can see him getting 100 points.
and now nate macks a a 100 point and 40 goal player roughly and should be a prime contender for the hart for the next few seasons.

not everyone can just be that good of a player, so suddenly.

Interestingly enough, Nathan was getting a lot of the same criticism as Eichel in his earlier seasons. But once things clicked, they clicked for good.

He also got benched a couple times in his sophomore season, attitude problems.
Got Eichel benched? No, and i think it would, and still could, have helped him along the way. Two coaches who didn't have the balls to do that.

Eichel has been better every season. He has the toolset to dominate. 100 points is within reach already next season, and I can't see any reason why it wouldn't?
You compared Eichel of today to MacKinnon of 3 seasons ago. Between that season and the next he made a 40+ point jump in productivity. Hence why I said progression isn't linnear. Comparing players by similar ages means nothing because not every player progresses the same way. Never mind that you compared MacKinnon's age 21 year to Eichel's age 22 year. Eichel was one of the oldest players in his draft while MacKinnon was one of the youngest in his.

He is the player who he is now and that's all that matters when comparing him to Eichel.

Yeah but that's the thing, getting that click might not happen, it's a very real possibility.

He's got talent no doubt.

Of course not. But Eichel is on a 87 point pace this season, despite injuries, and playing in one of the crappiest teams. For him to make the "jump" to a 100 point player next season isn't very radical or sudden imo.

Doesn't he play on a stacked line with skinner and mostly riehnart?

Team may suck but that line is overloaded.

And he's getting his mins too 20 mins and 3:30ish of pp time. Can't increase too much more on those departments.

The single biggest reason by far why McKinnon’s production jumped was shooting %. He had terrible % in his initial years. He went from a sh% of 6.7% to 13.7% last year and 11.7% this year.

Eichel’s shooting % this year is 9.3%. He’s already been over 10% twice in his career and hasn’t broken 90 points. Moreover, unlike McKinnon’s sh % which jumped around from year to year...Eichels shooting % has been incredibly consistent. Hes never been under 9% and never been much over 10 %. This is who he is as a shooter.

Expecting a McKinnon type jump is very unrealistic.

It's so stacked that Sam and Skinner are nowhere near PPG...

Eichel in 1st half of season: *Plays like a Hart candidate while carrying around Jason Pominville*
Eichel thereafter: *Gets injured and slumps for a while after coming back, and the team around him completely falls apart, still finishes the season comfortably over a a point per game*
HF: Eh, he's not that good and is probably incapable of scoring 10 more points than he's currently pacing for

On another note, I can't wait to see Jack play for a competent coach.

Just cause there not ppg doesn't mean it's not stacked.

Skinner has almost 40 goals and 60 plus points and reinhart is at mid 60s

A lot of players don't even have that luxury of players to play with. 2 60 + point players is great to have.

Matthews doesn't even have one 60 point player he played with at 5v5 this year.

Max Domi who's a 70 point player beast this year doesn't have that kind of talent to surround him.

Crosby most years has had little support relative to his talent.

Yeah he's not on the most stacked line in the nhl but 2 60 point linemates, and top usage is a lot already.

Mack is arguably the best athlete on the ice in the nhl so his upside was always going to be huge. Eichal is great but doesnt have quite that upside but not far off

Shooting pct can go up and down pretty dramatically for anyone at some point on their career not that Eichel is even a goal scorer first...you can get 100 without hitting 40 goals.
