Brad Ross for Jimmy Hayes trade. Why would anyone ever make this deal?

It's actually not captain hindsight at all. Burke came in and wanted to put a mini stamp on the team by clearing out random bodies he had no idea about. Paradis for Tlusty after a few months on the job, Brad Ross for Hayes, etc. He wasn't too familiar with the system but also needed to make a move during the 2010 draft when we had given up the Seguin pick.
You can't be serious.

Tlusty isn't even that good. He had a FLUKE of a half season and people praise him and hasn't done anything since last season. He's a bust , he's a 3rd liner and he wouldn't even fit on this team.

Who honestly cares about Jimmy Hayes anyways? He's not even in Chicago anymore and has played 80 total games in the NHL with 23 points. He's nothing to be losing sleep over. Ross, is 3 years younger than him as well. Leafs have plenty of those types of players they drafted. What I find funny, is that people complain about the Leafs trading away 2nd rounders, yet complain that they acquired one

What do they say about assuming ?

Sure their not the drafting powerhouses they used to be when they were drafting guys like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Kronwall, Howard, Holmstrom, Hudler, Filppula, Fleischmann, Ericsson, Osgood, Knuble, Primeau, Kozlov, Lidstrom, Fedorov, Drake, Konstantinov, etc. in the late-80's through early-00's, but for a team that hasn't picked higher than 19th Overall in 23 years, I'd say they've done an impressive job keeping their prospect cupboard stocked.
Ya but even Detroit is starting to slow down

IIRC the trade happened right before the selection, so you basically can say it was Hayes for Ross.

You are correct. In fact they tried to acquire the 35th pick from CHI, who said no. And then the deal was for the 43rd assuming Ross was still there.
