I'm realizing I'm the only one that's going to be excited about this, lol.
I've warmed up to it. Maybe it will lessen the chance that Holland trades our second for an over-the-hill rental at the deadline for the third year in a row.

Yuck, this is a stretch. He was passable in Chicago, but not a guy you go out and target for 3Mill +.

He could hit playoff bonuses which would raise his salary to 4Mill and carry 1 Mill over to our 16'/17' cap.

How much has he got left in the tank, didn't watch the hawks much in the playoffs? Is he still a bit of a playoff specialist?

Is he a 3C these days or able to handle 2C?

He looked good, very selfless and a good pass. Knows when to dish and when to shoot. He's a good player, we don't have a Kane for him to play with though.

I think he can handle 2c, was expecting 1yr 2m, I am ok with it, just glad he didnt do anything longer.

meh

not the most exciting move but not exactly upset about it either since it's only 1 year and Datsyuk is injured to start the season

makes trading Sheahan a lot more feasible too from a this years roster standpoint if something like that was in the works

Unlike the Green signing, I don't like this much at all. But, at least it's just a year at $3M. We'll see how it goes.

Did you watch him a lot last year? I didn't but what I did see I didn't like.

I'm riding the nostalgia train as much as anything, I won't lie.

I've always been a big fan of his, so I've followed his career to some degree everywhere. For his time in Chicago, I'd compare him to being as good as Sheahan, if that helps. It also doesn't hurt he was productive in the playoffs and didn't look out of place getting offensive opportunities on Chicago.

The key with Richards is you don't start him in the defensive zone.

It's not a terrible deal.

Think about it this way: it's a veteran center for free rather than dealing for one in the case of inevitable injuries.

Plus, Richards is a character guy. He's won two Cups and has served as captain before. He'll be a good mentor for the younger guys.

Red Wings general manager Ken Holland after signing D Mike Green & F Brad Richards. "We're done."

No trade apparrantly.. atleast not right away.
But then again HSJ also said Weiss was bought out to open room for next year, so Holland has been using her as a smokescreen.
