In all seriousness, I could see him being dealt for Johnny Hockey out of Calgary.

Both are LW, small diminutive guys with Super Start power AND A SIMILAR CONTRACT and could both maybe use a fresh start at this point. JG is only 25, so Boston would have to add a real piece.

The only problem is that we know that Sweeney hates local guys. :sarcasm:
Meh, I'd keep Brad over Gaudreau even though I'm a big fan of his.

Thornton.
Kessel.
Seguin.
Hamilton.

It's the norm. I'm shocked Pasta wasn't traded when he was an RFA.

Please tell me that you're just trying to interject some life back into this thread, or invoking the reverse jinx.
I really hope this does not happen, and that if ownership and management are considering it, they take a serious breath before doing anything completely asinine.
Brad Marchand has been THE top producer for this team, and 1 of the top producers in the WHOLE NHL over the last 3 years!! He plays hard (hehe) both ways, is a huge threat on the pp, and kills penalties! He's also stopped taking a lot of those selfish penalties for which he was always crucified.
No doubt he was brutal in these final 7 games (also not so great in 2013). It will be a long time before I forgive him for that brutal change and firing that puck back into the goalie when he had 3/4 of an open net. I mean I still haven't forgiven Krug for his 2013 G1 clear up the middle instead of using the boards!!....but digress.
Bad series aside, you just cannot deny that he is also a big reason this team had made it to 3 finals over the last 9 years.
If he is moved and they don't get a McDavid or Kucherov type in return, but instead another bag of pucks a la the Seguin trade, who's next if they make it to the finals, and god forbid, lose again, Pasta, McAvoy, Carlo?

Not directed at you, but weird how this narrative seems to flip flop all the time.

Either we are better off without these cancers.

Or Boston typical, we trade our best players for peanuts.

Both can be true at the same time.

You cant compare trading a 31 year-old Brad Marchand too trading young rising stars in Thornton, Seguin and Kessel. The later three were way younger and had pretty much their whole budding careers ahead of them.

Anyone is trade-able if it is what's best for your franchise you do it. I wouldn't call Marchand an untouchable by no means. Would I deal him? All depends on the offers, would I look to trade him? No, but I as a GM wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't put feelers out-there,and if someone came asking and I liked the return and it made the Bruins younger, Id do it yesterday.

A management team that falls in love with their players and are too loyal, usually has a short reign as no one player is bigger then the crest on their chest.

RE: Hamilton being on that list. I know he didn't want to be here. But he was dealt for three draft picks when the Bruins needed roster players (none of those picks have panned out, either).

Isn't it something you want the franchise to do?

If you trade Marchand or Krejci then you might as well blow it up because it’ll make the Boychuk trade look like a minor bump in the road. The guys that have been here 10+ years are brothers. You think Bergeron is going to be as fired up to battle again next year without these guys? No f***ing way.

THIS

Not to mention, Krejic just tied his career high this year with 73 points while missing a key roster player that Boston has needed since Looch, Horton, Iggy left. Marchand just hit 100 points. WHEN has this happened last for a player in a Bs uniform. Thorty before he was traded, and the team went where from that point...

Trade either one of these guys then you blow it all up. Bs have a couple years to try for another cup before these guys stop playing at their peek. Draft centers with every pick from here until Bergy/Krej leave to find a replacement. Sign a winger (T.Hall :naughty:)

I find it difficult to believe any B's fan would even consider trading Brad. He is so damn good and his contact is the best. I am quite sure Bergy would be unhappy if Brad was traded.

I doubt the B's management would even consider it.

What came off faster?

1. Brad Marchand’s shirt at the grand last night during the “great season Bruins!” party
2. Brad Marchand when Pietrangelo‘s coming down the ice with 10 seconds left in the period.

Bruins have had a history of trading young stars ,although Marchand really isn’t that young,I hope they don’t do it ,because mainly the trades have always sucked big time for the Bruins.God don’t do it again.

If there is a proven 25 year old right winger who is 6’4 , 220 that can skate like the wind and is a maniac on the body on a good contract that keeps him with Boston for the next 5 years then ya. Sure.

Seeing as that guy doesn’t exist that I know of...then ya. No.

I was all set to trade him after the loss to the Habs in 2014 and his two "reputation calls" in Game 7. Pretty sure I suggested on the Coyotes board would they consider a swap of Marchand for Boedker. They said the Bruins would need to add.

Good thing I'm not a GM.

Brad is going nowhere.

I really think moving Brad would be very reactionary. However, Lw along with LD are two positions of strength on this team. If Sweeney wants to move up in the draft and get a future number 1 center, I could see Krug and/or March being in play. Lot of organizational depth at those positions, but no one quite at the skill level as either player. Should be an interesting off season

I wouldnt mind if they traded him to Calgary for Johnny hockey. Like Brad but IDK what was up with him.
Johnny Hockey no showed in the playoffs and is too soft for me. If I'm Sweeney and am sending Marchand to Calgary it's for Tkachuk. Younger, physical forward that is a pest and can put up 77 points. It makes a lot of sense too if the Bruins want to get bigger.
