Sorry nice guy but too many mistakes

Should have switched McCarthy out in the off-season - understanding/evaluating your staff

Should have recognized that the PP is atrocious and that is his weakness. Still running it the same way and it has gotten worse. Should have hired a PP specialist or switched someone out on staff.

Should have sent Sillinger down a while ago. This was best interest for Sillinger and club.

In game recognition of when his team is out of sorts - I.e., Buffalo and call a timeout.

These are just some of the many items and just don’t want him learning on the job, when he should have had some of these attributes already. If it were me he would be gone at end of season.

He is trying to paint a narrative to everyone which I appreciate but if he is here next year I expect more of the same.

Some part of me is now wondering if Lars was promoted to be essentially a caretaker. "He's perfect for the dark years coming; he can keep player morale high even as everything goes to shit."
This is basically what I said awhile ago. He's the guy to get this young team through the muck and then once we start to see the light, we'll find someone else to dial in and fine tune it. That's why I think he's safe this season and at least the start of next season. If this looks like the same team come November/December I think he's gone

I don’t want to test that premise because I think he isn’t going to get better results out of this team and then we are stuck with a mid season hire.

I think he was promoted to be the anti Torts.
I still find it hard to beleive with his (Lars) background that he didn't work harder on the defensive side, and that is why I always speculate wheter the Powers that Be told him to let them play.

But they aren't "play"-ing. The structure sucks but not because they are some free-wheeling pond hockey squad.

THere has been very little accountability since he took over. I can't believe a head coach wouldn't discipline guys for all the mistakes on defense (take a seat in the press box as an example)
Now this year I think there has been more effort defensively, but between some bad goal tending early and just bad players it hasn't helped.

brad seems like a really good dude and the players clearly love the guy. learning on the job as an NHL head coach definitely isn't ideal, either. but i also can't really rule out potential improvement. there's plenty of precedent for that (bednar, brind'amour).

i think they'll bring him back. i don't think that's the right decision, necessarily, but i can see a lane for justifying it. no coach did more with less last year, and you can't pin injuries on him.

personally, i'd go hard after brunette this summer. but if they're gonna keep lars in place, the absolute must-do things to support him are hiring a new defensive coach and a new goalie coach.

If they keep him I think part of the thinking would be they don’t want to pay a coach for another year for sitting on the couch.

We now have people blaming Larsen for winning a few games very late in the season, after blaming him for the team losing games essentially all year.

If Larsen is responsible for the team losing so much, shouldn’t we be thanking him for putting the team in the position to draft Bedard/top 3??

Hi, one of those guys blaming Larsen for winning a few games, but also was one of the ones who weren't blaming him for the early season losses.

I remain unchanged in my opinion that we should fire him. What he potentially did to the franchise down the stretch was potentially very damaging. He shouldn't coach another game here.

He’s our Jeff Blashill. He’s here for the rough years and will be thanked for his services and put out with the trash when the light shows at the end of the tunnel.

After he almost accomplished the goal I am changing my vote. Get a better coach.

If they win the lottery how would people think about Laviolette to get the phase 2 going?

I was on board fire Larsen as soon as they went to Tampere and showed what a mess they were

I was on the ride it out side for the duration of the season. Now that it is over, sure.

Yeah mid season change wouldn’t have made.

There will be plenty of coaches available in the offseason and they didn’t need a morale boost mid season, the season was lost too early for that
