Regarding the OP...

No way Krejci is available now that Tavares is gone. Who the hell are your #2C and #3C if Krejci is gone?!

Backes will certainly be moved this year or next year (he is now owed 3x3.6 in real cash, come 7/2/19 he will be due 2x2.5).

Krug only moved for a forward that scores a reasonable amount more than he does or a more defensive minded 2 way 2/3D.

This is the inevitable "some Boston fan having a breakdown post-tavares" thread. The Bruins are a 112 point team looking to add some combo of Donato, Bjork, JFK, Frederic and Fitzgerald to the lineup. They should be better next year than they were this year. Toronto caught up. Probably surpassed. But not by an insurmountable amount. Breathe.

Don't think you have the right details here on Krejci and Krug.

Krejci moves to same partial NTC as Backes next July.

Krug can only block 8 teams now and next July.

But, yes, Krejci and Backes have less control next summer.

Now you know Gardiner's value. Krug has shooting over Gardiner and that is all.

He has outscoring him every year of his entire career and an extra year on his contract over him.

As far as what I think his value is, I'd agree a top-6 forward. Adds on either side depending on who they are offering.

A first, top 6 winger and high end prospect.

If a top 6 winger is not available it could be replaced with a 2019 2nd round pick and a 2020 first round pick.

As a neutral fan, this price seems way too high. The trade values on this site have been out of control lately. If my team is trading a first, top 6 winger AND a #1 pick I'd better be getting a much better player than Krug. Of course he's a very good player, but I doubt any team would give up that much for him.

Krug is also protected quite a bit. I think I remember seeing half way through the year he was in fact the most sheltered in useage. 70% offensive zone starts is insane. He hasn't had a year except for his rookie year where he was less than 60% offensive zone starts.

Krug has a clear purpose - PP/offensive specialist but don't trust him defensively. Game 7 aside with Gardiner, he is useful in all situations and can handle top 4 duties and still puts up some respectable offense.

If the Bruins want to send something of value along with Backes to the Rangers, I might be interested. The Ranger management has been pretty vocal about needing leadership.

Krug is a top-4 defenceman on the Bruins, no matter what his usage is. He isn't used in a shut down role but he is still playing 20+ minutes a night.

Not only is he better at the skill set a team would be looking to add to their team if trading for a Krug/Gardiner type, the additional year on his contract gives him more value to a team trading for him.
