Read swiftwin's very clear post above. If that does't make sense, nothing else I am going to add will help.

HF jinx is absolutely 100 percent rule.

Every time we have one of these threads, the player in question starts scoring.

Not only that, but people took shots at Phaneuf in this thread too. Guess who got an assist on Ryan's goal?

Why are you talking about AAV? AAV is irrelevant to the Sens.

Might as well add the number squats Phaneuf does per week in your trade analysis. Because that number is equally as irrelevant.

Michalek $4 million + $1.3 million for the partial season
Cowen $1.5 mil buyout + $1 million for the partial season
Greening $3.2 million + $900 000 for the partial season
$11.9 million total

Phaneuf $35 million total

($35m for Phaneuf - $11.9m Michalek/Greening/Cowen) / 5 years = ~$4.62m per year

You can keep reiterating a lie over and over, it still doesn't change the fact that Phaneuf does NOT make $7M per year, and once you balance out the salaries of the trade, he makes a salary that even you admit is reasonable for Phaneuf.
CONTRACT:7 yr(s) / $49,000,000 SIGNING BONUS$12,000,000 AVERAGE SALARY$7,000,000

What did you say again.

Try reading before posting next time. The Sens are not a cap team = cap hit and AAV means nothing to them compared to dollars owed.

everywhere
He's a poor mans heatley and he's taking the same path. Productive snipers with average/below average skating who fall off the map once they're around 30.

I hate having to agree with a Leafs fan but you're right. This guy is done as a scorer

I keep seeing the word bad luck in some posts on here. There is no such thing... There is statistical probability and that is it. No one is more predisposed to getting the proverbial short end of the stick on a statistical basis, as that implies some universal force working against a person.

So, it may be other factors influencing his production, including previous injuries that make him more predisposed to having new ones, but luck isn't one of those factors.

EDIT:

Obviously, luck can be attributed on a case-by-case basis, if used to mean that someone gets the worse end of the deal in a specific situation. What I'm referencing here is the notion that some people are inherently lucky or unlucky.

I don't really think it's luck.

That's true but the Sens dumped 11 million to take on that contract... does the money going out not factor into the acquisition of the player

Sure it does but it still doesn't void the contract of the player your getting.
Fact is Phaneuf is being paid 7 mil a season.Someone tried to dispute that fact by saying it wasn't true.

It's actually about $6.6m per season.

Back to the OP ... I think Bobby Ryan will continue to be an effective player. I don't buy in to the "he floats" argument. I'm reserving my judgement on him until we've seen him play 25 games with a healthy MacArthur. Depth matters - one more top 9 forward will spread the opposition defense a little thinner.

Another one tonight, 3 game goal scoring streak, points in 4 straight.

The jinx is so real.

Two of the 3 just bounced off his body and into the net, but I guess nobody ever said the jinx got you pretty goals.
